Can Wilder and Joshua come back if they lose their next fights badly?

AJ v Fury won`t be as big as it would have been before he lost to Usyk, his marketability has taken a hit, another loss and it will really take a hit, Wilder has never ben a big draw, he kept using the AJ offer to get his name mentioned alongside AJ and it worked, but that angle is gone now.

 

Joshua, yup. Wilder? I doubt it. If he loses this one he might jump off a bridge considering how emotionally invested he is.

 

Why, there are Arreola and Ortiz, maybe Stiverne too will be usable again.

If Wilder will win, we will see next 5 years like during first timeframe when he had WBC belt during 5 years?
Ofc most likely nothing will change.

What about them? They deserve credit for winning and earned their belts the right way.

There's more work to do though. I want to see the winners and losers of these series' face off. If Wilder loses tonight I want to see him fight AJ, Whyte, Ruiz, or Usyk. If he wins I want to see exactly those same matchups, and I bet 80%+ of the forum would be interested in them regardless of what happens.

Same for Fury, lot of opponents left for him too. My interest in AJ vs Fury is only very slightly diminished, it should still happen very soon IMO. Why let belts or a loss stand in the way of a great fight?

 

Eddie told that Usyk vs A.J had clause and Whyte vs Wallin will have too.

 

Great fight? AJ looked like crap v Usyk and this forum is full of hardcore boxing fans their interest in the above fights will not be matched by the general public, most of tyhe figts you mentioned won`t do as well as they would if AJ and Wilder lose their next fights.

 

That's why these rematches suck!

I like Whyte vs Wallin, decent match, but I don't want to see it 2-3 times in a row if Wallin can pull off the minor upset.

 

Less interest, lower PPV sales, etc is very different from "can [they] come back."

That's what I'm responding to, the idea that their careers have nothing left over a couple high level losses. Wilder's age is one thing, but people are acting like they're upside down on their record or something.

 

It's pretty sad how three years ago both were at the top of their game and it was a dream fight. Now they are both in vulnerable positions in their careers with losses. I think they will be fine overall but the shine from both is gone now. They let Fury get back in the game again. Too much time wasted.

 

This kind of thing always happens in boxing now. You get two unbeaten greats at the top of their game and you think 'They should fight. They should totally get that fight made', and then because of the promoters or whatever, the politics of the thing, they never fight. Then either the big fight doesn't get made (see: Lewis v Bowe) or it does get made and the aura is gone from one or both fighters so it's not as interesting as it would have been years ago (see: Mayweather v Pacquiao, Lewis v Tyson)

See, Don King was an absolute parasite and he ripped off many fighters and ruined Tyson's life as well as his career. But one thing you can't say about him is that he didn't give people the big fights. Don King always delivered massive fights. Usually because he promoted both guys and couldn't lose. I don't know who's responsible for Joshua v Wilder not happening (I lean towards the Wilder camp) but I do know that both are the cash cow for their promoter so it makes more sense to the promoters to have them both avoid each other until they get old and then cash out with a big fight, than to put on the fight, have their guy lose and see their earnings drop dramatically.

 

Yes, because the promotors keep pushing them, and they are big punchers who look the part.

Joshua I will say is still a top fighter, and Wilder never was, so if they got the fraud this far...

They can. I dont think they would tho. Made millions from the game...probably realise they,ll never be the top man.

At that stage whats the point. I think wilder would retire. But joshua would maybe keep going with hearn talking him into it.

To me wilder needs to keep going for another 2 or 3 fights otherwise his resume will look dreadful in a few years time. Not that important but wilder could still get some big wins even if it turns out fury has his number i reckon.
