Pac didn't do anything special against DLH ... DLH wasn't punching back ... he had no choice but to stop him ... Add to that Mayweather's fight w/ DLH was at 154 a weight that DLH was comfortable at and was fight at or around for years.
of course he can be,anyone who says otherwise is either clueless or a hardcore floyd nuthugger. This content is protected he already has been beaten,by castillo in their first fight, but whatever. will he be beaten?that depends on who he fights, cotto, williams&mosley would all give him hell.i dont see pac beating him tho.
Pac faced a weight drained Hoya who killed himself to get down to a weight he hadn't fought at in years. Hoya came into that fight weighing 145 lbs. He was actually outweighed by Pac on fight night. Now do you think that outcome would have been the same if the fight was at Oscar's natural weight class, if Hoya had a 10+ lb. weight advantage on fight night, if they were wearing 10 oz. gloves, and if Hoya was able to pick out the brand of gloves that Pac wore? It was a great win by Pac. However, Pac was facing a much different Hoya than Floyd faced.
It is easy to dismiss Cotto by just saying he will get picked apart.. When in reality, he boxed Mosley beautifully and countered him masterfully in the last few rounds without clinching at all. Cotto is a very, VERY sharp puncher, he's improving fight by fight not gradually but like a true champion.. I would give him a very good chance of whipping Margarito again in the rematch while lasting the full 12. Pacquiao not skilled enough? I am sorry but that is an absurd comment to make.
I bet you were thinking the same thing about PAC when he fought Oscar too. ****, I know I was. It was such a one sided beat down that I thought Oscar threw the fight. I couldn't believe it.
The same guys that are saying that these fighters will give Floyd hell would be the first to down grade those fighters once they lose to Floyd. Those guys don't have enough dimensions to beat Floyd ... in their losses they have shown the inability to adjust during the fight and when being faced with adversity. Mayweather would more than likely UD those guys ... but surrounding the hype of most of them ... I wouldn't be surprised if he stopped them ... either on cuts or accumulation of punishment. Cotto has no defense for the right hand and he's very hittable Mosley can't get past anyone with a jab and he's very hittable Williams isn't going to fight at welterweight again ... he's going to get better offers for bigger money at the higher weight classes.
DLH wasn't punching back because Pacquiao was too fast for him, used his head like the double ended speed bag atsch Timing and balance is something Pacquiao has mastered, and he threw that lead left hand in between DLHs gloves and made him flinch by feinting it. DLH had no answers to the speed, and I would seriously pick Pacquiao to outbox any version of DLH, there.. I said it. Pernell Whitaker put up the blue print, DLH always had problems with southpaws w/ speed and timing. "Pacquaio didn't do anything special, it was DLH that was remarkably drained/shot" Complete garbage man... :bart
Well if Floyd were to fight Pac at say 138 lbs, then yeah, he could get the Oscar treatment. However if the fight is at around 143 lbs., Mayweather would be at full strength. Pac can't bully Mayweather at full strength. Nobody expected Oscar to come into that fight at 147 lbs. He killed himself on the scales. Had he trained properly, and came in at about 160 lbs., it would've been a different fight.
Oscar hadn't fought at 147 in almost 8 years. Here's a guy who had been coming into his fights at around 160 lbs. for almost a decade and then he shows up to this fight(at the age of 35) weighing 147 lbs. Clearly weight was a factor in that fight.
Not sure where I stand on Cotto. Half me thinks he would be schooled and stopped after about nine rounds, the other half thinks that although Floyd would win pretty easily, he doesn't fight at a fast enough pace to expose Cotto's discomfort, as say Margo did. Williams, erm......... no. Floyd would potshot him to death. Don't forget, although he avenged Quintana, he was stood on his head in the first fight by clever counterpunching. Floyd is way better at not only counter punching, but not getting caught full stop. I think Mosley would give him fits at times, but gets caught a little too much and can be outboxed.... something Floyd tends to do for fun. His jab isn't quite up to DLH's level, if it was I would give him a chance. People just take issue with Floyd's annoying personality when rating him. Ignore that, and you have one exceptional fighter.
Mosley almost knocked Cotto out if it weren't for the water on the canvas incident ... and i'm sure if they fought again that Mosley would knock him out. He was catching Cotto with flush right hands ... to the point where he had to run. Cotto showed his good boxing ability in is loss to Margarito ... Cotto might be this and he might be that, but he can't take being pressured himself ... he can't take body punches ... and he can't defend the right hand ... on top of that he's a one handed fighter with limited defensive ability. Cotto was taking right hands from Margarito ... and he was getting worked to the body alot. "Lasting" is the key word when describing Cotto v Margarito again ... you'll never hear that word associated with Floyd Mayweather ... thats a big difference between the two. You never seen Floyd tired during a fight and you never seen him crack under pressure ... Pacquiao is fast and he's pretty strong but i'm not going to say that he's more technically sound than Mayweather. He's extremely flawed and has problems with his foot work ... when he punches he often lifts his back foot off the ground and leaves himself off balance after throwing a combination. JMM showed us that ... and so did Morales in the first fight ... you can control PacMan with the jab and good movements ... he also showed wear in the 2nd fight with JMM with those body punches.
Key word is pressure, Cotto would not be the one backpedaling against Floyd, he's physically stronger and therefore will be the one pushing the action. Margarito was the bigger man and Mosley was the physically stronger man, so he had to adapt and fight differently (out of his comfort zone) in order to prevail (and he did prevail against Mosley, and showed a chin in the process). I would not bet on a Cotto win, but I would definitely go for the over 11.5 rnds or the "fight goes the distance" option with Floyd winning from the mid point on. It would be an awesome fight to watch though, because Floyd would counter Cotto with right hand and uppercuts, and Cotto would stalk him and surely hit him (being the most accurate precision puncher in the welterweight division, I am sure he would tag Floyd). Pacquiao, it's hard to say... I would give Floyd the edge, but I think it goes the distance aswell. Styles makes fights, and Floyd would take a "sweet" role in both these fights, and Pacquiao works best on his offensive, as does Cotto. But yeah, I would favor Floyd, but at least.. either a Cotto or a Pacquiao win would boost his legacy, either of their names on his legacy brings more than anything he's ever accomplished.:deal
