I don't have that much of a beef with some of the junior divisions -many were actually set up by in 1920 under the Walker Law.

I was on this for months and it was pure hell, but the result is gold. I think it puts The Ring's and everyone else's too shame.

Anyway, before Walker, identifying the true champ when there was an empty throne is tricky. Try figuring out the first champ in the divisions under Queensberry. You gotta go through mud and dodge police almost as much as they did to find them. After Walker you had the NBA and NYSAC. If Maryland went off by itself to crown a champ, no one really cared. And the fact is the NBA adn NYSAC agreed on who the champ was more often than you think, and it was likely the two would eventually fight anyway if there was disagreement. There are some tricky times -the MWs in the 30s for instance, but overall it's a helluva lot easier than the past 20 years.

The big difference is that the NBA and the NYSAC did not have a vested interest in dividing the crown.

    Yes, he can.

    He won't, though.

14 fights is a lot in boxing today. I'm not sure Wlad has 6 more years left in him, his body certainly isn't holding up the greatest.

As it stands, though, he's head and shoulders the best heavyweight on the planet, he's focused, he's hungry, and he's ever working. He's not gonna just up and lose, I'm reasonably sure. If he made a dedicated decision to break Louis' record, and was willing to up the activity and do the full time, year round intense training(He does it anyway, but more and more time off healing is being taken), he'd break the record.

He'd also school his brother, whose power is largely gone, whose speed is fast deserting him, and whose skill was never in Wlad's league.

A few years ago, it may have been a damn compelling fight that saw Vitali's harder persona, frame, and chin win the day in a shootout, but today, it'd be a onesided boxing match because Vitali couldn't make it anything different, and Wlad is just the better boxer of the two; Cleanly, and clearly.

Add that Vitali has said he doesn't dispute Wlad's claim to the throne, and will never challenge him for it, and that should be enough. If you aren't fighting the number one contender and he'd like to fight you, thats one thing, but neither of them want to fight eachother. Wlad's amazing winstreak and stronger resume wins out.

I've never met a pair of boxing brothers who've fought, by the way. Ever.

And the fight itself, if it happens, risks being a sham. They might not care to go after eachother, and instead, choose to spar. I could even envision Vitali actively letting Wlad get the better of it, and he enjoys his brothers success, sees him as the number 1, and is on the way out.

THATS how most brother fighters operate.

Of course. I doubt a fight between brothers, at elite level, has happened in boxing during the last 50 years.

It's absurd to criticize Wlad because he "ducked" Vitali.

I think Tony would retire if he lost, so I actually expected him to come for it, like he did the first time.

Should be some good, hard shots landed over the rounds it last, at least.

I for one didn't find the Thompson fight boring; Wlad showed off that he actually isnt robotic, threw hooks, body shots, combinations, etc.

Their first fight was actually decent yes, but this time Old Thompson is 40 & slow as molasses.

Have you seen his latest fights? Tony will be totally at Wlad's mercy throughout.
