moore and dempsey are completley different fighters. by the way, marciano was only down for a 2 count against moore. I seem to remember a certain fellow knocked down twice, once out of the ring for a near 10 count by firpo.

dempsey got knocked OUT by old ass fireman flynn.

    * on a sidenote, I would pick archie moore to knockout almost all of dempseys opponents. dempsey never beat a fighter as good as archie moore.

    meehan was a joke

trouble? from what I am watching with my eyes, I see marciano knock moore down 5 times and beat the **** out of moore almost every round. o ya, this was the same who was on a 45-1 run leading up to the marciano fight.

... Because Georges Carpentier was a great heavyweight, wasn't he? He certainly seemed to stagger Dempsey.

Marciano is myriads more proven than Dempsey. He took on all comers, black, white, whatever. Marciano would whale away on Jack's puny midsection, after 5 or 6 rounds Jack would feel like he'd been 20!

Bottom line - don't be getting in no ring with Marciano without some meat on the bones! He'll break em'!!!

He knows what he's talking about. Trust me. :yep

Marciano fought everyone around, great lightheavyweights and good heavyweights like Walcott (out cold), Layne (out cold) and Louis (knocked out of the ring, oh no wait, he was PUSHED out of the ring.. but he was not helped back in like Dempsey).

Big difference between Dempsey facing far lesser opposition and being scared of every black fighter around, ducking the #1 contender Wills for a longer time than the average person needs to complete school.

Yeah, he was pushed out of the ring :lol::patsch

What an unlucky fella that Firpo threw a punch and landed it on his chin, and with that punch he "pushed" him out of the ring. Pity that Nigel Benn got pushed out of the ring too as was Joe Louis. They had to get back in there by themselfs, though.

    :lol::lol::lol:

I'm having a blast here. You're now arguing that one 188lbs tiny heavyweight was much bigger than a 185lbs heavyweight. Those 2 inch larger biceps really did it huh?:D

But when it's that 188lbs heavyweight vs a 245lbs Lennox Lewis, of course it doesn't matter.

On one serious sidenote, if you really care about bicep size then here's a great site for you:
    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.php?page=Biceps

Because if you think that biceps and punching power are related than you know **** all about boxing and probably have never boxed yourself.

Keep up the good work. :good

Anyway, back to subject. Wlad smashes Tunney as easy as he smashed Dempsey.

    You want my guess?

Uh, probably the latest reincarnation of Red Rooster.

    I am far from convinced.

I think Dempsey especialy would probably brutalize him.

I do think that Wlad is too talented to be counted out against all time greats and might even have a chance to be one in his own right but Dempsey is not for him.

Wlad is or was typically troubled by large heavyweights who could throw a good left hook. His defeats to Sanders, Purity and Brewster were all results of left hooks, and none of them stood less than 6'3" or weighed under 225Lbs. Also, two of those men were black incidentally. Frankly, I don't see what any of those men had in common with Jack Dempsey.

what do you mean? I mean Marciano could possibly beat Dempsey but calling Dempsey "puny" or "skinny", Marciano was alot bigger?

    You have said it yourself.

Dempsey had arguably the best left hook in history and was faster than any of those guys.

Sounds like bad news for Wlad.

If you say that Dempsey was truly the greatest left hooker in history then I'll take your word for it. But there are still other issues to look at in this fight, and frankly I don't think that its any guarantee that he'd win.

of course it is not guarenteed that he would win and Wlad with his power, speed would be a threat, and not to be taken lightly by anyone

However i will say Wlad, generally matches up well vs slick boxers who were not overly hard hitters- Tunney, Johnson, Walcott, Charles etc which is why yes Wlad could beat some all time greats, in particular slicker ones.
