First of all, i don't think either of Wlad-Marciano or Wlad-Dempsey are clear-cut. However i said that i think Marciano is much more proven and holds the superior record, which gives him a better chance to overcome the same size disadvantage that Dempsey has.

It's not clear that Marciano's opponnents are better than Dempsey's. Walcott lost 18 times in his career and yet he is considered one of Marciano's best opponnents.

Dempsey was only floored in one fight in his prime as far as I can tell. The knockdowns early in his career seem irrelevant when gauging his durability at his best.

And Walcott also only focused soley on boxing for a fraction of his career.

saying that Gibbons or Miske did not deserve a top 10 spot is a joke and shows clear bias

So what you are saying is that Miske, after losing and drawing 4 fights in a row then beating some guy with a 3-13-2 was in the top 10? Or am i off the rails?

IWhen Dempsey beat him in 1918 he was a top contender. While he had a few losses and a few draws after wards, he came back strongly. He had plenty of wins vs top contenders. Please read more about Miske

Yes, but Wlad has a more suspect chin than Foreman, Frazier and Liston i'd venture. He also reacts quite badly when hurt.

I'm talking about the Miske Demps defended his title against in 1920. Was he top 10? Or top 25 even?

Remind me who Miske had LOST TO and DRAWN WITH in the lead up to that fight.

What Crhis was trying to say is that Miske was never top 10 and that Dempsey never beat a fighter that deserves a top 10 ranking. This is beyond laughable.

    In hindsight probably yes.

I mean the guy KOd Bill Brenan in his last fight. He was dangerous right up untill his heart stoped beating.

Tell me exactly where i said this. And no twisting of my words but tell me exactly where i stated that Dempsey never beat a fighter that deserves top 10 ranking.

Miske had recent draws and losses with Brennan, Levinsky,Greb, Gibbons and Norfolk. While these weren't bad fighters to have losses or draws against, Miske had not beaten anyone of real quality as of late. His most recent win was against a fighter named Jack Moran who's record was 3-13-2. Was this Moran's true record? Who knows. Record keeping was not terrific in those days, but I have my doubts about his credentials being much better. Miske's record in his seven most recent fights leading up to the Dempsey bout was 3-3-2.
