No, it doesn't go far enough. Ruiz is a DISGRACE to decent fighters everywhere. Exhibit A with what is wrong with boxing. A talentless glorified clubfighter who relied on connections with a powerful promoter to get him title shots he didn't deserve, favorable treatment from refs for illegal tactics that disgraced the game (particularly the faking of "low blows" in several fights), and gift decisions he would never otherwise have gotten. He cheated his opponents of the victories they deserved the opportunity to win WITHIN the rules, and the fans of the legitimate boxing matches they deserved to see. That any fan of this sport would praise this SCUMBAG CHEATER amazes me!

Without King, Ruiz would have been lucky to win a regional HW belt, let alone one of the many "world" title belts available today. He symbolizes EVERYTHING that is wrong with the sport today.:yep

One thing you've got to respect him for is attempting to fight the best opponents out there, however boring he may be. He holds some very good wins and has one of the best resumes in the heavyweight division, sadly this reflects on how bad the Heavyweight divison really is rather than his ability. He has taken very little damage in his career due to his illegal style, that's probably why he's still around (and the fact he is always well conditioned).

I hate the guy as much as everyone else, however he does deserve a little respect for fighting the best and coming in well conditioned (Two things that are sadly lacking in the heavyweight dvision). That being said I hope he gets KTFO soon.

Look behind those "wins" and you will see "victories" obtained by illegal tactics like excessive holding and faking low blows, as well as several very questionable decisions. People make the mistake of looking at Ruiz's record and saying, "oh, he fought some good names." All well and good, but if you basically cheated to get "victories" it is rather disgraceful.

Like I said, Ruiz has made a career out of cheating his opponents AND the fans. For that he deserves no respect, other than the respect that should be given to anyone for stepping in the ring. For what he does once he gets in there, he deserves ALL the criticism he gets - and MORE.:yep

I know many of his decision have been close or controversial, I was merely stating that he has fought a good list of fighter (whether or not he won). I for one give him a little respect for fighting good competition, despite his obvious questionable tactics and victories. Like I said I don't hold him in a high regard, infact I feel in several aspects he is a disgrace to boxing. I thought I'd just bring up a few things about him that are positive, rather than the criticisms that are always brought up (which are deserved). Don't mistake this as me defending Ruiz, I'm just playing devils advocate. :yep

Believe it or not, he's only 36. I predict at least 7 more WBA title shots by 40.

The way in which he fights is a disgrace, but he has won some respect in the boxing world just because of the fact that he'll fight just about anyone, except maybe David Tua. :yep

But it doesn't surprise me that's he's still lingering around the heavyweight division. I mean if way past it guys like Rahman, McCall, and Maskaev are still around, why not Ruiz?

A club figher beat all these contenders and former champs. He is not with King anymore and he is getting a title fight. Gift decisions? The gift lost he got from Valuev. Who is to say he was faking the low blow pain. Holding is done by many fighters including Ali. Again, you are going way too far with this. With the so called knowledge you have of him, you must catch all of his fights. Don't blame him for holding, blame the ref for not doing his job. I am a fan and a friend of his and for him to become a two time HW champ is a great accomplishment. I thank the refs for not doing their jobs so that he could attain the titles. If you call him a club fighter, then who else do you think is or was a club fighter at HW?
