the amount of crap posted about that fight is unreal. Benn was punched out the ring, rocked and hurt badly, but he got back in of his own acord and got up on his own and easily beat the count (which is 20 after going through the ropes), getting on his feet before 9.

I do however agree that had the fight ended there then the G-man may have ended up being killed in the ring... given the choice I'd probably rather be dead than in the state he is now in though. Very heart breaking to see the interview with Gerald these days :(

i couldn't agree more with the responses about benn-mclellan and taylor-chavez... i think those 2 are the most tragic because the fighters injured had such potential

I can re-watch that, because that didn't directly lead to the tragedy. It's like not being able to watch one certain Tommy Hearns or Leon Spinks fight, knowing both of them suffered brain damage, but it was throughout the course of a career. Taylor took a lot of punishment throughout his career, he later took beatings versus Norris, Espana, and Chavez again, and was probably in a lot of Philly gym wars. Chavez I was merely the worst beating and Taylor never fully recovered as a fighter, but he could talk and function clearly for years after it.

On the other hand, Watson, G-Man, and Anifowoshe went to the hospital to save their lives immediately after the fights.

No, I can't watch a fight knowing someone was permanently injured or killed as a result.

I've never watched Ali vs Holmes all the way through, and I don't even like watching one round. Fight should have never happened.

I watched Eubank/Watson not so long ago & my heart was pounding when I knew that punch was coming.

I still like to watch Eubank vs Watson also, magnificent fight, that should be remembered as a great fight, the fact Watson has made this fight public should encourage others to watch what a great fight this actually was.

I have the Benn v G-man fight on DVD, not for any sadistic reason, just enjoyed the fight, I still enjoy watching it, but only in the sense that it makes me appreciate the sport, and its combatants even more, and how much they put on the line each time they step through the ropes..Peace and respect to everyone of them

yeah some fights like that can make you appreciate the fighters more. But other times its just carnage. Like McClellen and Benn were both world class and deserved to be in the ring with each other. They were both young and not particularly worn. When I see the Du Ku Kim fight all I can think is what the hell was this guy's manager thinking putting such a brave young man in the ring with a guy he had no business being in there with. Or when you see an aged veteran in there with a game young hungry bigger guy it makes you think this could have been avoided if the guys around this man took better care of there fighter. The this could have been avoided feeling never sits well with me.

Agree 100% mate:good This is where control board need to step in and stop the fight, otherwise things like that will continue to happen. Obviously tragedies happen, but some could have been avoided

I try to watch the entire fight at least once, out of respect to the fallen fighter. I can't always make it through to the end, though.
