To be honest I stay away from tragic fights. I have watched them once and probably won't again. I agree that watching them can make you respect the sport, but I already respect fighters to the utmost and just really honestly don't want to re-watch those fights.

Depends a bit on the fighters. I don't have a problem watching Benn-McClellan actually. Not saying Gerald deserved that, but he was a piece of **** human being anyway. The bait he used to put in with his killer dogs sure as hell won't mind that he can hardly see or speak anymore. Nor would his pitbull that he shot point blank because he didn't kill fast enough. Or the women he thrashed.

I did watch quite a large batch of tragic or almost-tragic fights (ones which ended in brain surgery - successful or not) in effort to find out and learn to detect the possible symptoms of the problem. IMO, necessary lesson for any referee (I have refereed a load of kick-boxing pro fights + amateur boxing) and should be something cornermen (to a bit lesser extent) also train themselves for.

For enjoyment - no, would not.

i've just watched the eubank watson 2 fight a few times.. but cant find any footage of the end to the benn mcllelan fight.

Because of the way i am, watching something like this doesnt really affect me that much.. Dont get me wrong, i think its really sad there are people in the condition they are in, and although i am disgusted with the tales of mcllelans past - does he deserve to be in the state he is in? no not really - and no one has the right to say he does.

what does disgust me is when i saw on a video that barely anyone pays any attention to mclellan! rjj has donated apparently, but not visited until he retires - because he wont fight any more if he sees him - although i said i was disgusted, i do understand rjj's sentiments with regards to that.

a boxer puts their life on the line every time they lace up gloves - no they arent the only one putting their lives on the line, but they are still doing so. Its a cruel sport, and that ex boxers who were great champions are struggling for money - especially with the likes of DLH, mayweather, Hatton etc. making millions upon millions in their last few fights.. I would like to see that all major cases (its not up to me to decide where to draw the line) receive some portion of all ppv/world title revenue - to pay for care, to help old timers who gave a lot for the sport, yet because of lack of revenue in the times in which fought, have no money etc. a la Joe frazier et al. They fought for their place in history - lets not let history forget them.

Lets remember that watson, mcllelan are living with the effects of their "defining fights". And people say they cannot watch? if they didnt have tragic ends, they would be celebrated as fantastic wars, lets celebrate them as such, but remember that there is a harsh reality as well.
