Looks a little like Sam Mcvey but I’m pretty sure it’s not him

    Too tall.

I would say Bill Tate but I think it's too early.

well there is an SM on his shorts, it does look like a young McVey.
I have seen that picture before, and I believe he is Identified, just can't remember who...

I'd say it's him, with a recently buzzed Haircut.

The person in that photo is John Haines (also spelled Haynes). His nicknames were "Klondike" and "Black Hercules."

He claimed the Colored Heavyweight Championship when he beat a young Jack Johnson in 1899, even though others also claimed the title at the time.

    He was a Chicago heavyweight.

Bob Armstrong was black, too, but he looked nothing like Haines. (LOL)

I went back to the documentary to see what the context was. Seems like, in that brief clip, Burns just grabbed some photos of black heavyweights from that time period, whether they were contenders for the title or not. He didn't even bother to identify them.

I can't really dig up any photos of Klondike myself besides one where he looks a lot like Mcvey.
