Can you justify putting Floyd Mayweather Jr in a top 10 ATG list?

Yeah, as if the quality of a resume suddenly increases when the guys from Canastota remember to elect X, Y or Z to the hall.

To be fair, people also talk about "future hall of famers" Which takes some clairvoyancy is some cases.
Then again, it even gets reduced down to "possible future hall of famers" ...
    ..

I think "title holders" and "belt holders" is sometimes even more problematic. In the days when everyone and his brother held a trinket.
"future, past or present alphabet titlists who possibly might end up in hall of fame" ... or not :D

Would you say that Floyd has a win over a ATG who was in their prime that wasn't weight-drained/dragged up in weight?

    Nope.

Rather like Calzaghe, Tyson, Lennox Lewis, NP JD and a whole bunch of other guys.

ATGs who beat other prime ATGs are pretty rare by definition.

    Thanks for the reply. :good

It's just that people get it twisted (HOF'ers & ATG's meaning the same thing), that I'd ask for your $0.02 ;)

But you'd agree that guys like De La Hoya, Pacqiauo, Marquez and Moseley are deserving of being in there?

At the end of the day, Floyd beat everyone there was to beat.

Margarito would not have enhanced his record in anyway, but id loved to have seen Mayweather vs Martinez.

    Williams
    Martinez

    There's four off the bat!

Margarito and Williams were nothing special. And Margarito would not have enhanced Floyds record in anyway.

The 3 best wws of the era were Cotto. Mosley and Pqcqiauo all of whom Floyd beat.

Margarito wouldn't even be mentioned if he hadn't been cheating.

Ive already put that the Martinez fight should have happened.

There's plenty of background story available as to why the Winky Wright fight didn't happen.

    Maragrito wouldn't, yet Maidana has?

Wouldn't even be mentioned? You do know that he asked Floyd TO HIS FACE for a fight like 18 months prior to the SSM fight, right?

I never mentioned anywhere that Maidana enhanced Floyds record.

Margarito was no different to Maidana, they are both at a similar level. The difference is, one was a cheat.

Winky ... as in Winky Wright? :patsch

What are you talking about? The last time Winky Wright weighed anywhere near a division Floyd Mayweather has competed in was when Wright fought at super welter 11 YEARS AGO.

At that time, Floyd was a lightweight 20 pounds below him.

And Paul Williams losing the welterweight belt in his first defense to Carlos Quintana didn't exactly build a case for a megafight with Floyd after the De La Hoya and Hatton PPV blockbusters. :-(

If these guys were actually in a division with him at the same time and weren't losing, they might have gotten a fight with him.

But that's a pretty pathetic list.

    Winky Wright? Good Lord.

I understand you don't care for Mayweather, but if you're claiming Winky Wright is a guy Floyd "ducked" your argument just went down the toilet. :hi:

Floyd Mayweather is an all-time great. You might hate his style and everything about him, but facts are facts. Deal with it.

    Winky Wright. :lol::rofl:nut:lol:

Yes i know Margarito just randomly turned up while Floyd was busy with something else and offered Floyd a measly $8m when Floyd went and fought De La Hoya and Hatton for a cool $50m approx.

You do know that Winky and Floyd were supposed to fight, don't you?

Still waiting on the ATG that floyd has beaten in their prime, at he correct weight (wasn't dragged up/drained). Fire away...
