Can you make a top 10 P4P case for Rigondeaux?

I write this realising I could absolutely get the **** ripped out of me for even suggesting this after he has had only 9 pro fights, but I believe Rigondeaux has to be worthy of a top 10 P4P spot.

I haven't yet thought about who he replaces, but i don't think we need another 10-15 fights (he might not even have that many) to confirm what is blindingly obvious: Rigondeaux, right now, is one of the classiest operators in the sport.

The 2nd half of the P4P list isn't incredible IMO, but no way is Rigo in contention yet.

He has what, Cordoba (didn't look great) Casey (looked great, Euro-level opponent and not even the best in Europe) & Ramos (poor fighter from what I've seen) so not for me. In fact, he's not in the top 20 P4P fighters.

In terms of winning a 'title' in a few fights, it's hardly a Muangsurin-esque achievement to get him in the P4P on the 'wow factor'.

I have been a fan since hearing of his amateur exploits and watching him, so I'm glad he's progressing well enough. A fight with Donaire would go some way to pushing him into the upper echelon, but I don't fancy him to win that one.

Depends on what you're basing your P4P list on. Some do it by divisions, by resume, etc.. But even then, I think it's far stretched. Not a case, as of yet.

You could have 1,2&3 in any order, and 4,5,6,7,8 are pretty much in no order, but I think they're the right guys.

    1. Marquez
    2. Pacqiuao
    3. Floyd
    4. Donaire
    5. Wlad
    6. Ward
    7. Martinez
    8. B-Hop

9& 10 is hazy for me probably any out of Gamboa, Wonjongkam, Bradley....I'm probably missing someone but no one springs to mind that doesn't sicken me to think of classifying them as 'P4P'...who am I missing?

Not for me. I still think Doniare handles him well enough.

Id like to see Rigo fight Nishioka next

I think you might be slightly caught up in the hype of the fight last night. Rigo's talent could feasibly see him in the top 10 right now, but he hasn't got the record to back it up just yet.

Kazuto Ioka has had the same amount of fights and, dare I say it, has more of a shout over being ranked above Rigo right now in the P4P rankings.

    Why?

What would yours be Luke? :think

  12. Because he's a ***** :yep

Like you I think the top 3 could go any way.... because of Mayweather's win over Marquez I'd be tempted to have him top, but that was ages ago, Pac did as good a job on Shane as he did and Ortiz is a bum.

Pac has dominated several welters, especially Cotto, but again that was a while ago, then he beat Margarito who was basically a middleweight.... but lost to Marquez.

Marquez hasn't been all that active, but he clearly defeated Pacquiao, though Kats has since lost to Guerrero and Burns.

With all that in mind I'd keep the same three as you.

I'd swap Ward and Wlad, keep Sergio where he is, Hopkins wouldn't be there though. I'm tempted to put Bradley in but nothing really stands out on his slate.

If Hopkins isn't in (fair shout IMO) then who Gould make up the top 10?

Suggestions from anyone more up to scratch with the goings on than myself???

My top ten P4P at the moment would be:

    1 ) Floyd Mayweather, Jr
    2 ) Juan Manuel Marquez
    3 ) Manny Pacquiao
    4 ) Nonito Donaire
    5 ) Sergio Martinez
    6 ) Yuriorkis Gamboa
    7 ) Bernard Hopkins
    8 ) Pongsalek Wonjongkam
    9 ) Andre Ward
    10 ) Timothy Bradley

I don't think Rigondeaux is near the top 10 yet, or the top 20. He's a great fighter though, and if he remains motivated I think he'd do well against most fighters at 122lbs and 126lbs. I think his style means the promoters of guys like Donaire, Mares etc won't want him facing their guys due to the perceived 'boring' style of Rigo.

I think Wongjongkam has to be there.

The next place would be between Bradley and Gamboa for me. Timmy probably nicks that
