Anselmo Moreno moved back down after losing to Mares and went on to have a 2-fight win streak before losing to Payano.

If he had a better chin he may have been the GOAT.

    If we're talking catchweights:

-Pernell Whitaker won 8 rounds against Julio Cesar Chavez and it was ruled a draw. The fight was at 145, Whitaker having recently won the 147 lb. title from Buddy McGirt and Chavez being the 140 lb. champ.

-Terry Norris-Meldrick Taylor was at a catchweight of 150.5, halfway between 147 and 154. Taylor was the WBA champ at 147 and Norris was considered the man at 154, as well as a top p4p fighter. As I've said before, I think Taylor's team was cashing out on him. A year after the first Chavez fight, Taylor looked very good in beating Aaron Davis for the WBA 147 lb. title. But he looked vulnerable in his defenses against Luis Garcia and Glenwood Brown, who dropped Taylor twice and hurt him. Taylor's punch resistance looked shaky at times in that fight. Then they decide to have him go up in weight yet again versus Terry Norris?

-Bernard Hopkins-Kelly Pavlik was at 170. 2 of Hopkins's last 3 fights (Tarver, Calzaghe) had been at 175, Pavlik was the champ at 160. The fight that wasn't at 175 was at 170 against Winky, who was moving up.. Hopkins also went down to 156 (catchweight was 158) when he fought Oscar.

-Roy Jones-Felix Trinidad was at 170. Jones had been at 175 and up for over a decade, Tito was coming out of retirement after having had his last 5 fights at 160.

    not very often whatsoever

being lighter then "normal" takes a long term effect on your body as a little fat helps provide a little more energy for training and fight night. Guys over trained will always be in good shape but come fight night the extra focus of the fight being real cant provide that long term peak adrenaline factor as well as when one is NOT over trained.

Guys that are over trained run into a wall whereby the body wants more rest and calories and therefore becomes resistant when being pushed beyond its limits more so then a body that is well trained.

Going down on weight is not easy.

j taylor was at sMW for quite some time before dropping back to MW and winning a title.

pretty sure Judah went as high as light middle before moving back down to LWW to beat mattysee/mabuza. Both started their careers at that weight tho, went up before going back down again.
