Hi guys I have a coworker who claims to be Benny Benitez (http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=40739&cat=boxer) an up and coming lightweight contender in the late 70's. So far all I could find about him was his boxrec profesional record and a this picture, This content is protected although the boxer doesn't resembles our coworker (51 years Today) and other coworker that knows the boxer since childhood claims that's not him on the picture. So I came to the best in the business (EastSide Boxing Classic) to see if you can recognize someone in this picture, there's a small handwriting in the lower right corner that says something like "Smooth Gary Sho- I believe is Gary Shaw... M S G" - as in Madison Square Garden" For the record we are not trying to blow up some hoax or anything , actually we are trying to gather some photos, or footage to make achievement/ support activity for this guy, since he recently was diagnosed with a terminal illness and cannot work anymore. Any help clearing this out or gathering more info would be deeply appreciated.
Two clues : the big guy on the left is too old to be Gary Shaw, unless Gary's father has the same name, cause it does resembles to Gary a bit. The Boxer I Believe is Carlos Monzon: This content is protected What do you think?
Ok, I'll be pretty convinced is Monzon, but what about this guy Benny Benitez, he fought Ken Buchanan in 1979 any memories?
Looks a little like Chuchu Malave to me, a NY lightweight during the '70s. Also the guy on the far left looks a little like Al Braverman. Scartissue
Exactly I'm becoming more convinced that the second pic is Nino Benvenuti. I'm gonna look like a dick if I'm wrong but that's him.
