I mean, if you could do a Holyfield on a light heavyweight like Ezzard and bulk him up , then perhaps he could hang with Lewis.
Agree, but Bivol has a massive speed advantage and skill edge. I reckon he could nick 3/4 rounds before he starts to feel the size difference. Well ... maybe.
No, Lewis`s jabs were just as quick as Bivol`s and the skill level is similar, plus Bivol`s skills don`t include getting inside an extra long jab, he wouldn`t have the power or chin to compete with Lewis on the inside.
Maybe, if the 175 pound fighter doesn't have to fight a series of big fighters to get the shot at Lewis. If a James Scott at his best, Dwight Braxton (he was Braxton at his LHW best, still good as Qawi) could just fight Lewis I think they might give him problems. They were strong, determined, hard to hurt, and they would make Lewis fight or defend for 3 minutes at a time. They were different style fighters, but they were both pressure fighters. When Scott would get inside, he had the conditioning to stay busy and not let up, he wouldn't be trying for the knockout, just a lot of punches to the body and some to the head. Braxton would jab his way in, and being a foot shorter might be hard for Lewis to hit solid? Braxton's jab (while his chin is hidden behind his shoulder) would be going to Lewis's body along with most of his punches. If Lewis has any problems with body punches these two should find out. I'm not saying that only Scott and Braxton/Qawi trouble Lewis, there are probably other LHW who have similar attributes. Maybe neither of them gives him a problem, but I wouldn't be surprised that in a one time fight either or both could give him problems. I don't think either of them could get through a series of big fighters to earn a shot at the title, but in a one time fight, it would be "different" for Lewis and could be a problem.
BS, Bivol isn`t quick compared to fast middles, look at guys from the past like Toney and Nunn, Bivol isn`t quicker than them, nor is he quicker than Ray Robinson was.
Doubtful. And especially if they had to fight him in the suggested manner of trading with him at point blank. An extremly lucky punch is the best they could hope for .
I don't think any man weighing 175lbs or less, could fight Lewis like Mercer did and be as competitive as Mercer was, no. That's an opinion I have absolute confidence in.
Langford never fought a fighter with an 84 inch reach who could jab like Lewis. Length is very important.
Yeah, was gonna say Qawi...if, and it's a big if, he can get inside its a hard nights work. On the other hand, Foreman v Frazier comes to mind.....
