There are no commentators to skew judgement in this fight. Try watching this fight with the mindset that both these guys are prospects and that you have never heard of or seen them fight before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyHJ5UN9PiE If you can watch this fight with that mindset, then the winner of the fight is blatantly obvious.
It all depends on peoples judging criterias . I don't think a lot of people I talk to about this fight understand that boxing has a judging criteria that must be upheld. To me this fight was easy to score. 1) you gotta look at clean punches landed 2) ring generalship - who was in control of the fight? 3) one fighter was being agressive but how effective was he? Your right, there was a clear winner.
Like he said above me both guys threw and landed basically the same amount of punches at virtually the same connect rate, so it comes down to who's style you favor the aggressor pushing the action or the boxer's footwork. 7-5 Nelo.
Another thing Power punches....power punches should be visibley doing damage to an opponent in some way whether the opponents face or body is marking up or they get hurt or the punch turns there head or whatever.
its not obvious. if Lara would have been more active, even a little more punch output and it would have been obvious. I think he felt Canelos size/power and concentrated on defence rather than offence. Lara is the better boxer but he got slightly out muscled on this occasion. His lack of punch output cost him big.
exactly. Throwing a couple of pawing jabs and the occasional left hand doesn't mean your going to win the fight.
