For your information, after looking around a few Canadian sports forums, it seems clear that most Canadian boxing fans agree that Andrade was robbed and immediately deserves a rematch !

The referee in there was from Montreal but had a lot of credibility going in. He was an official, competent IBF referee prior to tonight's fight, nothing was fixed...the Interbox people are some of the most honest and genuine people in the sport. It's just a shame it turned out that way for Andrade....

Whatever the ref's reputation before the fight I personally feel what he did was blatantly corrupt and knowingly subversive. He spent alot of time getting in between the fighters when Bute was having trouble throughout the fight. It looked fishy to me before the KD and the long count. His actions stunk badly.

Very bad outing for the ref no doubt...but we've seen worse throughout the years..haven't we ? I just thought it was important to point out that Bute's team have nothing to do with the outcome and way the referee acted in there... INTERBOX are miles apart from the Sauerland people in Germany for instance !!

Canadian fans are great. If anything, they are more Catholic than the Pope and that's close to making them too good for their own good, or too good for the sake of fairness, IMO. They'd rather get the short straw than one that looks but cannot be proven to be long. Great for boxing, though, because it means that the guy that travels will be more confident of getting a fair decision in Canada. :thumbsup

Do you guys think the Bute-Andrade robbery is worse or less bad than what happened with the robbery in the first Abraham-Miranda fight ?

Quite a few dudes here. A lot of "Corrupt Canada", "Germany Dos" talk.

It's sad because up until the BS no-KO call, this fight had everything boxing needed to make a statement. Two great warriors, top skill, top heart, a loud sold out crowd with support for their boy...and then that happened.

Agreed, he was clearly doing whatever subtle he could to hold Bute up at the end. I can't remember seeing such blatant interference being run by a referee.

It was obvious from the beginning to me that the ref was hired for his expertise in cheating. For instance, after Andrade's first landed punch the ref falsely accused him him of elbowing. Or when Andrade tossed the excessive clinching Bute, only Andrade was warned. Or when Andrade worked his way in the broke him away yelling "watch your head". This ref has obviously dabbled in the arts of negative reinforcement but yeah you could also say that the ref's experience was obvious in that he kept to the game plan even under pressure.
