Name me a state with 8 millions people in the States which has as many fighters that we have in Quebec.

Plus Zewsky is coming. Bertebiev is fighting here, Alvarez is fairly alright.

It took four pages to get a reasonable response to my post. Do you think the lack of quality trainers is the main reason the guys I named really never stepped into that upper echelon of greatness? Is it as basic as that?

Or YOU could get out of here or make some salient points about what was written in the original post.

Learn to read. Just about the exact same thing was said on the first page, you chose to ignore it.

Paper champion...thats a god awful fight for a vacant title. Stiverne should be fighting someone like Fury, Pulev, Chisora etc not a guy he already beat, this is pure politics. HBO want a Mexican HW champion that they can milk dry.

They put on great shows from a production value standpoint and appear to have solid fan atmosphere. That is pretty damn impressive by itself.

Surely others have noted the small population of Canada and it's weak boxing infrastructure. Plus it's best fighters are immigrants.

I hate to say it but i totally agree with you, i don't know what exactly they are lacking but in my opinion it's a mix of stamina, technique and a bit of toughness ( just certain fighters like Bute).

Pascal and Lemieux both gassed easily.
Also i remember Vasyl Lomachenko mentioned how people on this side of the world are less technical even in the pros than the amateurs.

I guess all that can be blamed on trainers.
Hm i wonder who the top 3 trainers in quebec are and how they stack up next to guys like Roach, Nacho, Garca etc.

Which makes it even more pathetic of a boxing country

Well, Russ Abner is a good coach, but I don't know about the rest really. It just strikes me as strange that out of all of the fighters I named, none of them have really stood out amongst their peers. I mean, Shane Langford has only been training fighters for a few years...so maybe that's part of the problem.

And I'm not hating on these fighters or Canada--I'm just generally flummoxed by what seems to be some weird phenomena. I like Lemieux as a fighter, but that loss to Rubio seemed to ruin all of his confidence. He's done nothing since that time.

Troy Ross was a good fighter at one point, but his career seemed to be in a perpetual state of stagnation.

Russ Anber is good but unfortunately even he lacks that it factor that seperates the good coaches from the great ones.

If you're a WHITE can crusher, you can make serious money in Canada.

All you need to do is blow out a few tomato cans and you'll be boxing's messiah.

This. Seriously... All MMA fans. Montreal is the only place boxing exists really. They don't even know who Sergio Martinez is.
