Canal Indigo: Adonis Stevenson vs. Badou Gabriel Jack & Óscar Andres Rivas vs. Herve Hubeaux RBR

Another dominant but somewhat monotonously dull round for the Zew.

 

Luque getting lots of warnings for headbutts and excessive holding.

 

Luque starting to warm to his assignment, initiating jab exchanges with Zewski, oddly now in the final couple of minutes. Going to be too little too late, not sure what his plan is here. Zewski planting his lead foot and performing a compass swing around Luque, doubling a jab and putting in a right hand once facing him from a side-on angle, T-boning him.

15 seconds left, Zewski begins to rush in and loop a right around the guard, hitting the head and forcing Luque to duck and cover.

Weird they both had this stroke of inspiration to pick up the intensity when it was far too late for any of these dramatics to make an impact on the outcome. Both had to know that a Zewski wide UD was inevitable unless somebody completely sold out and went nuts for the KO.

So it turns out they are having Óscar Andres Rivas vs. Herve Hubeaux as the co-main event in Toronto, surprisingly - and not only was Zewski vs. Luque demoted below that one, it wasn't even 3rd-billed! Kane Heron vs. Ivan Alvarez, which is scheduled for 8 with no title on the line in the same division as Zewski vs. Luque, is actually taking up that slot.

Not saying that Zewski's fight was more important Rivas' - and in fact I'm thrilled about this running order because I'm way more of a Rivas fan and this means I get to catch his fight in full - but surprising because Zewski, short of Stevenson, is by far the biggest draw on the card as far as putting Canadians asses in seats.

• Kane Heron vs. Iván Guadalupe Álvarez Ruiz, 8 rounds @ welterweight
• Óscar Andres Rivas vs. Herve Hubeaux, 10 rounds @ heavyweight
• Adonis Stevenson vs. Badou Johannes Gabriel Jack, 12 rounds @ light heavyweight

The next one should go the full eight but HIGHLY doubtful the heavyweight match goes the full ten.
