Argentina, Panama, El Salvador, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela, Costa Rica... I believe all of these utilize odd-numbered rounds, with 11-rounders serving in place of 12 and 9-rounders in place of 10. Confusingly, they also sometimes have the standard lengths used outside Latin America, probably when imposed by the sanctioning body in charge of a particular belt.

Point being, he didn't just pull one country outta his butt, rather a good swath of an entire continent does continue to make use of the odd # rounds distance format, but I'm not sure there's any evidence it has led to consistently better scoring (or even fewer draws). Many of those countries also use a half-point system for close-but-clear rounds, which means in effect you can still end up having an even distribution of points without a knockdown with an odd-numbered length. :nusenuse:

That educated enough for ya? :sisi1

meh stevenson vs alvarez/kovalev winner. Kovalev deserves to fight for the lineal belt.

You believe it'll realistically happen? I suspect we never see Kovalev vs. Stevenson, but hopefully I'm wrong and we do.

Kovalev should just come out straight and say "i'll fight you in Montreal, I'll fight you on showtime, let's just make the damn fight" It hasn't ever been I'll beat you anywhere, any place, anytime, any network. It's always "we will fight but on my terms with both of them. I think Stevenson has good tools BUT his sharpness really was not there. he did good work stevenson I gave him 7 rounds and I think fairly. but the sharpness of his left wasn't there. Kovalev by knockout. this fight is also not what it would have been in 2014 but I think it should be made. I think haters appreciate what stevenson does in the ring more at this point, maybe this could still do the same kind of interest, just to the people who would watch every boxing title match anyway would feel it's too late.

Jack's demands to rematch on his terms is really stupid unless stevenson is making twice what he made.

I'll keep going on but I think at this point all these other guys like Bivol, Gyvodyk and Beterbiev would **** stevenson up, but it would be for not enough pay. Kovalev or Alvarez should be stevensons last fight.

What about Pascal? He is shot but that is still huge money domestically.

    Sure, but still pointless.

Sounds like where fights matter and take place more often, 12 rounds is standard.

I was just stating a random factoid, what do you mean an educated reply? Haha.

Unless you want me to elaborate why I think your idea itself is "strange?"

My point is, so what if a handful of countries do 11 round fights? The fights we all watch at the elite level happen where 12 rounds occur.

So, you have two options, make a 13th round or keep 12 rounds but enforce more even rounds to be scored.

I’m not sure why that’s strange at all.

Hello? Do you not realize that there will still be tons of Draws with 13 rounds? 10-8 rounds my man. No remedy for the almighty draw.
