They circle and thrust jabs at each other, Amghar mostly going low and Putkonen high. Putkonen is clapped on the side of the head with a couple of right hands and retreats. Amghar decides to spam it, seeing that it affected Putkonen a little. Long slapping left hooks on the body in pursuit by Amghar. Putkonen tries jabbing up top but is smacked with quick light hooks from either hand of Amghar whenever he opens up. Putkonen ducking in, going for the waistline and getting rabbit punched.

Round 4

Putkonen is tired, blocking as much as he can, biding his time and then falling in with a jab sticking into the navel of Amghar, then quickly enveloping him in a clinch. Amghar is shoving him off to mid-range and working uppercuts, leaning in to land them and then straightening out beyond the range of Putkonen's body shot counters. Amghar scoring jabs on the outside, then putting on earmuffs and jumping into Putkonen to smother him. Putkonen spraying lefts and rights at the head of Amghar but very untidy, arm-weary.

Round 5

Putkonen is following Amghar, eating jabs and getting slowed down at intervals with right uppercuts driven into his belly when Amghar jumps forth to intercept him. Amghar tiring now as well, initiating some clinches, throwing Putkonen in a headlock and spinning him at one point. Putkonen is stepping, blocking, stepping, blocking - occasionally getting off a single jab or a sloppy flurry before getting countered flush on the face or forced to duck and/or tie up. Amghar wrestles Putkonen onto the ropes and clubs him with a few rights. Putkonen tries putting his arms down and leaning upright against the ropes to slip punches, and it doesn't go too well for him. Amghar's fan contingent LOVING it.

Round 6

Putkonen is pinning his palms to his forehead, just accepting his fate, leaning forward and letting Amghar pour the heat on him. Amghar flailing away on him, eager to force a ref stoppage for his boisterous supporters. Too little attention to detail in his work, Putkonen isn't getting tagged very cleanly, although he's getting whitewashed. OOOOH, there's a slapping left on the liver and Putkonen goes down. Bell sounds as soon as he beats the count.

Any more body shots and Putkonen isn't going to make it another six minutes.

 

Round 7

Amghar swarms Putkonen into the ropes and lands a rabbit punch. Putkonen falls and the ref decides to rule it a knockdown and gives a perfunctory ten-count as Putkonen is pacing around shaking it off. Time in. Amghar flurries Putkonen into the ropes and Putkonen desperately flurries back at him in reply. Putkonen down, slip. Double jab on the ribs followed by a right cross up top and left hook downstairs by Amghar, unanswered. The ref steps in. Putkonen simply not defending himself all that well, not hurt, just getting lit up.

IB KSAB, y'all must've forgot.

 

With this fairly impressive performance (for what it was; he's certainly no world beater in the making) and with his obviously being a decent regional draw, Amghar might be in the running for next crack at Garrido's 140lb national title in a rematch. I'd be keen to watch it.
