    GGG was interim champion. If the reigning champion DUCKS the interim champion then the interim is automatically elevated to full champion per WBC rules.

    Canelo should lose his Chicano card for doing this.

    Shame on Canelo. Julio Cesar Chavez recently said Canelo wasn't afraid of GGG and should fight him. I wonder what he thinks now.

    So, the mandatory #1 challenger for the WBC Title was also the interim WBC champion at the same time?

    The interim champ IS the mandatory. The #1 ranked fighter (after the interim) is not always the mandatory, especially not so if there's an interim champion.
