Recent history tells us what happenend prior to say eddie hearns ppv nights. Its not just my opinion versus your opinion. These guys didnt just fight the other top ten guys regularly...taking whatever purse was on offer. They mostly just padded their records waiting on a worthwhile big money fight. Resulting in terrible cv,s...a slow moving sport. Losing fans interest by the day. The funding/interest went out of the sport. What you say is fair enough. Its a good way of getting likes on a boxing forum...but the reality is it wouldnt really work...you,ll just slowly kill the sport a little bit more.
I think this is more a criticism of the ridiculous alphabet ranking systems than of PPV. If there was one central rankings system we’d get plenty of contender vs. contender on free to air TV.
Completely correct. Thats where the real problem lies. Its a corrupt sport. The organisations are corrupt. We all know it...but it,ll never change because it benefits too many people. Safins under the impression its all eddie hearns fault tho...where hes just working within the parameters of pretty much a broken sport...thats all.
You're tying yourself in knots. Hearn's crap pay-per-views have been around for years, yet how many of his heavyweights have squared off in good 50/50 heavyweight bouts? 9 April 2016: Anthony Joshua vs. Charles Martin - rubbish, bought belt. 25 June 2016: Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale - Foregone conclusion 10 December 2016: Anthony Joshua vs. Éric Molina - Foregone conclusion 4 March 2017: David Haye vs. Tony Bellew - Shot Haye vs cruiserweight contender who was really not even top 5 cruiserweight 29 April 2017: Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko - good bout, borderline worthy of a PPV purchase. First competitive bout on list. 28 October 2017 – Anthony Joshua vs. Carlos Takam - A nonsense joke. 31 March 2018: Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker - Absolute rubbish - as it proved to be. 5 May 2018: David Haye vs. Tony Bellew II - Really? 28 July 2018: Dillian Whyte vs. Joseph Parker - Never a PPV but second competitive bout. 22 September 2018: Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin. Rubbish. Foregone conclusion. 22 December 2018: Dillian Whyte vs. Dereck Chisora II - Fringe contender vs British level gatekeeper. 1 June 2019: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - Foregone conclusion and he still managed to get battered. 20 July 2019: Dillian Whyte vs. Oscar Rivas - Haha. Are you telling me this is PPV? 7 December 2019: Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Anthony Joshua II - Rubbish. 22 August 2020: Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin - Competitive contest but not to the level required for PPV. 31 October 2020: Oleksandr Usyk vs Dereck Chisora - Foregone conclusion 27 March 2021: Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin - Competitive contest but not to the level required. Turned out rubbish. 1 May 2021: Joseph Parker vs Dereck Chisora - Nonsense. 18 December 2021: Joseph Parker vs Dereck Chisora - Nonsense. PPV, to any non-mug has two criteria. 1) Competitive bout 2) Highest level. Only one of these bouts comes close and that's watered down Klitschko vs Joshua. Have you noticed that in the last 6 or 7 years, there has been an enormous lack of competitive bouts at the highest level on PPV? I thought that this model was supposed to encourage the best bouts. It seems like you are sadly mistaken.
I dont really have time to go on and on. But just taking one of them fights...i randomly picked one of the worst of them....joshua v breazeale. On the undercard you had... George groves Martin murray Chris eubank junior Conor benn Yafai Dillion whyte Its a bit like no one can fund that without ppv. What do you give george groves to fight martin murray. £30 grand. Your gonna tell the rest of them down the line in his division that the world title holder with a massive persona is getting 30 grand to fight a pretty good fighter. Groves was one of the best in britain at the time. Murray had challenged for world titles. If their getting short money...whats the rest of them getting. Again who,s exllaining to groves...hes getting much less than say a top twenty darts player...because thats the reality of it. These guys are only viewed as rubbish because their affiliated to eddie hearn. Take joe parker v chisora for example. Chisoras more proven than say every current heavyweight in britain barring maybe whyte and fury. Hes say the 3rd best heavyweight in the whole of britain...people can argue that but until we see guys like joyce beating better opposition its hard to argue with. Joe parkers probably the best boxer new zealands ever had. Hes there number one in the whole country. That takes some doing i,d imagine. But in your mindset their both hopeless. Its irrational thinking really. Its people living out of the realms of reality. How have you even seen them fights anyway?
See, this is the difference between yourself and I. You are without a doubt programmed by the suits. Eddie Hearn is like Paul McKenna to you. Before I comment, what do you think is the minimum George Groves would deserve to face Martin Murray on that undercard?
How did Wilder show that he was tough? It's the opposite. Wilder got dropped multiple times by a boxer not known for not having punching power including against half glazing body punch that didn't connect. That same boxer has also failed to beaten a top 40 fighter since 2015 that has also been dropped by the likes of even Pjakic and Cunningham beforehand. Wilder best win wouldn't be amongst AJ top six best win.
Eddie hearn has nothing to do with it. Lets say eddie retires tomorrow. Do you think you,ll suddenly start getting these fights on non ppv?
Fury has only failed to stop 4 opponents in the last 10 years of his career. 1) Pianeta - coming back from drugs, alcohol, obesity, depression. Wanted to get the rounds in and literally toyed with the former heavyweight world title challenger (not a worse opponent than Molina). 2) Klitschko - hadn't been beaten in 10 years. Supremely confident. In Germany. 3) Wallin - dealt with a horrible cut for 8,9 or 10 rounds of the bout. Was being trained by Davison at the time. 4) Wilder - coming back from drugs, alcohol, obesity and depression. Trained by Davison (useless). What will your reaction be once he KO's Whyte? And what would your reaction be if he knocks out Joshua? Please answer these two questions.
I've said If Fury knocks our Whyte or AJ I would admit I called it wrong (it wouldn't be for the first time) and give Fury the props and wouldn't disappear like that Adaym did for while when he called the Whyte vs povetkin 1 fight wrong. What would yours be if Whyte KOs Fury? In 10 years the only opponents Fury has stopped are: Chisora - the best out what overall is a list of majority of poor opposition Wilder Cunningham Hammer Abell Sefrei Shawarz That's not good considering the poor quality of opposition. Compare that to In the less than 7 years AJ has stopped the likes - Wlad - Povetkin - Whyte - Pulev - Takam -Martin - Brezeale - Molina - Johnson - Cornish
Since 2013, Fury has had 12 bouts. In the same period of time, Joshua has had 26 bouts. If you failed to notice, Fury has spent a lot of time out of the ring, and Joshua only managed to get a belt handed to him because Fury was out of the ring. Joshua has never come close to being the lineal champion. If Whyte KO's Fury then Fury will have to bear the mark of a massive skidmark on his record. I will acknowledge that skidmark, while you refuse to ignore Joshua's (and more are coming for him, by the way). Even an out of shape Fury will knock out Dillian Whyte. As much of a fan I am of Whyte, there is no chance that he sees the final bell in that fight. Fury will batter and he will relish that opportunity. I fear for Whyte's health, actually.
Correct. Take away ppv and fights will just not happen. Never mind the fact that if you want gifted athletes to take up boxing rather than other sports there needs to be the potential to earn life changing money. Listen to Chisora who said AJ was the best thing to happen to the HW division as it resulted in everyone else earning more money.
I will NOT be buying this on PPV.......mainly because I land in Vegas on the Saturday morning for a pre planned holiday, just need to get a ticket now.
