re-read that to yourself again...this time w/ your irony meter ON, ok babe? there there and BTW...what's your pick? canelo KO 1, right?
Irony: i don't think that word means what you think it means! and 3 emojis for one reply? You're clearly trying to over-compensate for something!
Every bit of logic tells me to pick Hearns to win and I am going with Tommy. He was longer, taller and more powerful. His power did not diminish when he moved from welterweight through junior middle and on up to middleweight. Hearns was not called The Hitman for nothing. The only issue I see is his ability to take a punch. Hearns chin was the only thing that kept him from being in the upper tier of the best ever. He wasn't horrible in this department but it was not the best facet of his game The short-armed Alvarez should struggle to get to Hearns but if he did he could send him down for the count.
I hate to say it, but Hearns may not be the slam dunk that I want him be. Like you said, Tommy’s chin isn’t granite but Clenelo’s is. This would be a mega fight and Tommy was KO’d in two of his three other mega fights; meanwhile, Alvarez has never been seriously hurt. Like so many other mythical matchups involving current greats vs past greats I believe it comes down to what rules will they be fighting under? If it’s same day weigh in and 15 rounds then Clenelo loses by later-round stoppage. Alvarez won’t be able to clen his way down 25lbs and rehydrate back up 16lbs before the fight. However, if the fight took place today at 160 or 168 with day before weigh in and scheduled for 12, I wouldn’t be surprised if Clen clipped Tommy at some point and stopped him. Under the current rules Tommy’s best chance is to box on the outside but Hearns might not be that disciplined and let himself get drawn into a firefight
I think that's fair. I always look at it that the modern fighter has to go back to the old rule set to eliminate the advatages in weight gain. Otherwise your pitching two people who with one having a 20lbs weight difference. and therefore be 2-3 weight divisions higher. So really Canelo at Middle should be fighting Light Heavies in reality. otherwise it's not really a fair comparison.
