Hearns gets his jaw shattered BADLY. Canelo too slick for Tommy, jab to body into overhand folds Hearns This content is protected
That’s how I consider these types of mythical matchups too. Having to weigh in hours before you’re scheduled to fight 15 rounds (and training with that in mind) would be a game changer. Rounds 13-15 were called the Championship Rounds for a reason; those last three rounds were where the true greats separated themselves. Now there’s so much emphasis on boiling down to the lowest weight possible with the knowledge that you’ll have 24-30 hours to rehydrate with electrolytes, multiple meals etc creates a different mindset.
Exactly. especially at the heavier weights when fighters can't even go for 12 rounds these days. they might be bigger because the've had some PEDS. but it's no good when your that tired and can't defend yourself. if you then take that to 15 it would change the way boxers trained altogether as now you would have to be built for endurance rather than a sprint. which is where I think the sport has changed certainly at the heavier weights in the last 3-4 decades.
At 154 I like Hearns by execution, I still like Tommy at 160 too. If Tommy roided up also he never loses to Canelo
As much as I enjoy to watch and rate Canelo as the best we have of this generation, this is one fantasy fight I struggle to pick him in. Hearns despite starting at 147 was tall and explosive and spiteful even at 160 upwards. He would have picked Canelo off and landed big shots at range. It would have been a very fun fight to watch style wise.
