Anything to explain away being so wrong. After their boldly wrong predictions, they have no course of action but to lash out and start making excuses to try and cover their tracks. "I wasn't wrong because *insert crazy conspiracy*, you are wrong because *insert cringeworthy sexual innuendo*". It's so easy to counter these fools and make them look silly as they've become a sitting duck by their own making. This is a battle of the mind. Sound logic, reminding them how wrong they were and debunking their phony theories wins every time.

Why are people coming out and hating this topic?

Clenelo fought one guy at 175/light heavyweight so far. It was Kovalev. The fight was close until Kovalev got ko'd late. We all know Kovalev is past his prime, took a lot of damage in his last few fights and in his whole career overall and is probably not a Top 3 guy at 175 anymore. Clenelo DESERVES respect for taking on Kovalev and beating him. No doubt. Nevertheless he hasn't fought other guys at 175 yet. If he fights guys like Beterbiev, Bivol, Smith or Zurdo and beats them we can put it into perspective.

Smith isn't a 175er. He's a big guy at 168. Nevertheless he fought at 168. And Clenelo fought him at 168. This topic is about 175/light heavyweight.

One fight at 175 against an old and past prime Kovalev is telling US nothing about Clenelo at 175.

So guys...calm down.

 

Pretty much everything you said is correct however even with these circumstances quite a LOT of people did not not fancy canelos chancea against Kovalev despite the fact that he was over the hill. But now that Canelo disposed of him people are clinging on to "Kovolev was shot" LOL where was that energy before ? its hilarious.

 

I read this thinking u were talking about beterbiev n bivol. Its funny how before the fight with ward Kovalev was the krusher who killed a man in the ring. Than the eleider alvarez n the bodybuilder fights n hes a shot lhw but still could possibly beat up a smaller canelo and after the KO he was "shot" canelo is an amazing talent. Sometimes where theres a will theres a way. I dont like him at 175 but hes building foundation and growing. He will prob go up to cruiser eventually and KO a chinny heavyweight who was gifted a belt in the future

You're mixing all things together. Of course there are Clenelo haters. They would pick against him EVERYTIME and afterwards the opponent was weak, shot or robbed.

Picking Kovalev over Clenelo wasn't a bold prediction. It was risky because Kovalev is old, took a lot of damage and has tons of private problems like alcoholism and such stuff, but Kovalev still a a very good fighter two weight classes above. Everyone who said Kovalev would beat Clenelo knew that there was a high risk of Kovalev getting starched at some point. So it was risky to pick him but not exactly bold.

I don't like Clenelo too but he's a great fighter and deserves some big respect. He's the P4P #1 without a doubt. BUT...still...fighting against other 175ers is a different kind of thing.

 

Well, Kovalev was old and even if he had only very good habits, he was over the hill then.
Buatsi, despite not proven with anyone from real top 15 and even not close to this might be better test for buterelo. Cos he is not old.
Even Bolotņiks might gave him more hard work than over the hill old Kovalev.
Beterbiev ( I suspect that cherry pickers are lurking when old Beterbiev will be enough old ), pre retirement Gvozdyk version for sure might gave for anyone more tough test than old Kovalev version.
