    1. If we went with your post as fact, then... by definition, the rivalry is controversial. Due to there being mass dispute between the official scores, and what the public feels happened.

    2. I personally think enough people scored the second fight for Canelo enough to warrant the title of controversial.

In one of the most comprehensive compilations of boxing insiders list that I have personally seen for the second fight, it breaks down as follows

    Andre Ward: Alvarez
    David Lemieux: Alvarez
    Jaime Munguia: Alvarez
    Claressa Shields: Alvarez
    Al Bernstein: Golovkin
    Lou DiBella: Golovkin
    Manny Pacquiao: Golovkin
    Roy Jones Jr: Draw
    Lennox Lewis: Golovkin
    Danny Jacobs: Golovkin
    Terence Crawford: Golovkin
    Barry Jones: Golovkin
    Matthew Macklin: Golovkin
    Anthony Fowler: Alvarez
    David Haye: Alvarez
    Carl Frampton: Golovkin
    Robert Garcia: Alvarez
    George Foreman: Alvarez
    Richie Woodhall: Golovkin
    Mikey Garcia: Alvarez
    Floyd Mayweather Sr: Alvarez
    Dewey Cooper: Draw
    Andrew Tabiti: Alvarez
    Kevin Newman: Alvarez
    Will Clemons: Draw
    Rolando Romero: Alvarez
    Luis Tapia: Alvarez
    Rafael Garcia: Golovkin
    Paulie Malignaggi: Golovkin
    Martin Murray: Alvarez
    Victor Ortiz: Golovkin

    15 for Canelo
    13 for Golovkin
    3 for draw

Eye on the Ring, a website where boxing nerds post their scores as a way to give official fight scores context relative to public opinion, had it as follows

    24 for Canelo
    50 for Golovkin
    11 for draw

    3. Even if we decided to say nah... nothing controversial there, my underlying point remains the same, in that the trilogy would be punctuated by Canelo getting a clear and decisive victory (imo) and it would be the fight that sealed the trilogy, imo.

So, either way, I still think its doing Golovkin a favor.

Wasn't there a video of Munguia saying he thought Golovkin won with his jab straight after the fight? Then days later articles appeared with him saying Canelo won.

kirk is the definition of biased posted with false statement and data:

    Steve Bunce: 114-114
    *******: 114-114
    The Guardian: 116-112 Golovkin
    Bad Left Hook: 115-113 Golovkin
    CBS Sports: 116-112 Golovkin
    The Telegraph: 116-112 Golovkin
    News.AU: 115-113 Golovkin
    BloodyElbow: 115-113 Golovkin
    MMA Fighting: 114-114
    Boxing News: 115-114 Golovkin
    HBO: 116-112 Golovkin

    Michelle Joy Phelps: 115-113 Golovkin
    The Ring Magazine: 115-114 Golovkin
    Los Angeles Times: 115-113 Golovkin
    USA Today: 115-113 Golovkin
    New York Post: 114-114
    ESPN: 114-114
    Forbes: 114-114
    Complex Sports: 116-112 Golovkin
    Boxing News: 115-114 Golovkin
    talkSPORT: 116-112 Golovkin
    Washington Post: 115-113 Golovkin
    TV Azteca: 115-113 Golovkin
    MonteroOnBoxing: 115-113 Golovkin
    Televisa: 116-112 Golovkin

    The Sweet Science: 117-111 Alvarez
    BBC Sport: 115-113 Golovkin
    Saturday Night Boxing: 115-113 Golovkin
    SecondsOut: 114-114

When SN re-scores the fight they had it 115-113 to Golovkin as well.

But the majority of fans backed Golovkin, who charged out of the ring and refused a postfight interview.

Twitter reaction after the fight was all in favor of GGG, except for George Foreman, who had Canelo winning.

And Eye of the Ring stats was :
    23 for Canelo
    50 for GGG
    11 for draw
More than twice for GGG ....
There was plenty of pool, and the results was in wide favor for GGG.

obviously canelo has apoint, he won fair n square but to me a true fan - and true fans do not moan about the result for years - it matters nothing, as I know 3G will smash Canelo in the rubber match.

"Excuse" isn't necessarily a negative word though. If I don't come to work because I have a broken leg, that's a good excuse. Similarly GGG getting robbed on the cards twice, is also a good one.

The irony. You have to be ridiculously biased to think GGG won that rematch. Even Abel Sanchez admitted he lost. Please learn how to score a fight.

You may need to learn how to score a fight. From all the reputable media, only 1 score it to Canelo, that speaks for itself.
HBO "scorer" is one of the best, he also had GGG winning.

And you are the next definition of biased. You are proven Canelo fanboy and Golovkin hater.
I liked both, and lost all the respect i have for Canelo.
Abel Sanchez never said GGG lost. He said he score it even.

Well, that would be a reason not an excuse.. These days those words are combined to make the one having the reason or excuse feel bad...

Well....That's the way it is. I guess. But I hate to see this corruption. It's probably the thing that I hate the most in boxing.

The fact that he beat Canelo twice doesnt even warrant a third fight
