    Do you understand economics?

An athlete generally makes a correlation of how much money he generates. HE is GENERATING that money, hence hes entitled to a large percentage of it.

Canelo spoke when he ran like a coward from his Mandatory and dropped the belt to fight Liam Smith. The fans then spoke when that fight only sold 250k PPV's and lost Golden Boy 10 million dollars. Now, Canelo is involved in a circus fight at some silly catchweight. And Oscar can't stay away from booze and coke. Sounds like a solid future for Golden Boy.

TV contracts have enabled the ridiculous salaries in MLB and NBA. The players are not generating close to the amount of money they are getting paid. ESPN has taken all kinds of criticism for the deal they signed with the NBA. It is a losing proposition. Furthermore ESPN is losing subscribers by the millions each quarter. They are in huge trouble.

When you really look at this situation from an unbiased perspective What do you have,,,,,,,,

1 Gennady GGG Golovkin... Recognized universally as The Undefeated World Middleweight Champion
Knocking out opponent after opponent not one of them causing him a moment of concern Every 160 pound fighter has found an excuse as to why they cannot fight him. At last Danny Jacobs proved his courage by agreeing to fight in March

2 Saul Canelp El Pollo Rojo Alvarez,// Beaten or rather humiliated & embarrassed by Mayweather was also arguably beaten bu both Erislandy Lara & Austin Trout also After his win over Amir Khan. Alvarez really showed out calling GGG into the ring & challenging to fight him @ 160 . In fact he said " Put the gloves back on I'll fight him NOW" !!! ROFL BIG FIGHTING WORDS !!!
BUT When ordered to defend his bogus WBC title or be stripped Canelo instead tucked his tail between his legs & meekly handed over the belt he was afraid to defend. Dela Hoya's excuse " Canelo's body isn't ready for 160 yet " ROFLMAO Yet the latest is Canelo is fighting Chaves jr @ 164 limit ROFL
If this was in a movie script you'd laugh at it

Bottom line is ..... Its Canelo that does not deserve to be in the ring with a real FIGHTER!! & CHAMPION
like Golovkin. Canelo fully deserves the name of El Pollo Rojo the name bestowedon him by his embarrassed Mexican supporters

But it totally ESCAPES Ward fanboys and they think Ward wanting 50-50 at 168 was a compromise on Ward's part :loel::loel:

I was talking boxing and mma. I probably should have said fighters.

In game sports there are other values assessed (like how valuable that player is to his franchise, and tv contracts like you mention) that get factored into how much they make.

Its still largely based upon the fact that they get paid how much their brand is worth to the market (if the tv networks overrestimated thats their problem) and how much their talent is worth to their team.

See how the land lies in September.

A lot can happen in the next 6-7 months.

Jacobs is up next and there's rumours circulating that a BJS fight could happen in June. IF GG was to beat both Jacobs and BJS, he would have obtained ALL of the MW belts.

The pressure on Canelo would then be immense.

Let's also see the numbers from GG-Jacobs.

People forget that a GG-Canelo fight would be huge, and Canelo also needs GG to obtain his biggest pay day to date.
