Obviouslly he fights this weekend and should win by TKO. How would you match the budding star that is Canelo in 2011 ? Oponnents? IMO 2011 is crucial in his development in getting him ready for a title shot in 2012. I believe a February date would be good timing for his next fight. Soto-Karass would be a good foe and test Canelos toughness and be a good scrap until it lasts. Then in may match him againtst Paulie Malinaggi a slick boxer who would get a good payday against Canelo, if that does not work out maybe Kassim Ouma? Then have him on an HBO card in December against a legit top 10 welterweight. Thoughts? Yes I know Paulie is a 140 pounder but he would probably take the fight for a good purse, Paulie is a tough dude who has fought Diaz , Khan , Cotto.

Paulie's a bad matchup for Canelo...even with his natural physical advantages. How about Canelo-JCC Jr. ? It would be a huge moneymaker and the winner could get Angulo or Cotto.

Paulie is not a 140 pounder anymore, he moved up to 147. He cant make 140 anymore.

Canelo is getting overhyped. He is still young and has alot to learn. Let him beat a handful of fringe contenders. Feed him to a top welter now and people will be saying he exposed, glass jaw ect....

    Let him develop

Alvarez should be moved along the same way in 2011, No need for a rush just yet.
W/ 15,000 people this weekend waiting to see him live the kid is building one of the fastest fan bases in a long time.

Depending on the situation in the WW division at the end of '11, possible title talk.
As for a potential Chavez Jr. Fight.... stay tuned for summer 2012.

As far as the OP. If Canelo does KO Ndou that will be a big statement. The guy has never even looked hurt before. I expect a UD but a KO would be awesome.

the kid fights about 4-5 times a year so if he keeps that up then i would say keep feeding him B level fighters with all different styles.

Soto-Karrass would be a good test and if he should beat him decisively should set him apart from other prospect like Mike Jones who struggled with him.

Also why not knock out one of the other procpects out there. Im thinking taking on Mike Jones would be a hell of an accomplishment along with a guy like Porter. But we know those would never happen.

I definatly wanna see him in there with slicksters.

I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar comes out and fights Alvarez in 2011.

Would love to see him vs Soto Karass, would be a great scrap. Paulie seems like it would be a good fight for him as well. He will be fighting a title shot by the end of the year though.

I believe he makes yet another great statement this weekend by KO'ing Ndou.

I don't want to see him against any of the other Mexican prospects yet, not until their paths cross later on when they are at the top.

eh too early for Canelo. Kid should be fighting for a title sometime in 2012-13. He'd be 23-24 by then. Believe it or not 2011 is still too early for him. Even if he had impressive wins over solid fighters I don't think he's ready even though he shows alot of promise. I do hope his quality of opponents increase with each fight. I also don't care for the undefeated notion I don't buy that bull**** if he needs to lose to become a better fighter than so be it. I'd like to see him fight Mike Jones late 2011 and Malignaggi wouldn't be bad either. It would be a great experience for Canelo win or lose. He needs to deal with all styles in order to conquer them.

Mike Jones would be great for him like i said since it would separate him from the pack of WW LMW prospects.

Malignaggi would also be good but Paulie is way too small. It would be a 12 rounder but who knows maybe Canelo impresses and stops him.
