He's fighting at middleweight but has said several times he can make 154 no problems. After all that's where he spent most of his career. Why are you not addressing my point.

Martinez fought P. Williams the second time at a catch-weight of 158 lbs. :verysad

There arent no other alternatives, really. It's still a crappy fight. But oh well whatever floats your boat. I dont care about Martinez .I think hes overrated and Im not that interested in him fighting Mayweather. I think Cotto has just as good of a chance or better then he does.

IF this is true, it's like I said, Canelo vs. Shane, Canelo (if he wins) to face Floyd in the fall. Pretty weak.

Yes, for the middleweight title. Which backs up my point even more. He was happy to agree to weigh in less than the middleweight limit.

In this entire exchange, you have not made a single relevant counter argument to my point, which is that a catchweight for a Martinez fight isn't necessary. He said he was willing to go down to 150. So 154 is just fine for him.

Whatever floats my boat? You couldn't even come up with any alternatives. If the man still wants to fight, then he has to fight and you may not always like the opponent, it happens, this is boxing.

Personally, I just want him to fight Pacquiao after Cotto and retire. But hey, it's his legacy.

WTF are you talking about? Martinez doesn't fight at 154, he's the middleweight champ. Any fight between 150 to 154 would be a catch-weight fight because neither man currently campaigns in the lmw weight class. Dude, you're a bit too much in the sauce.

Just because it's within the limits of a particular weight class, doesn't mean it's not a catch-weight fight. :patsch

And you were accusing me of not even knowing a catchweight is.

It's nothing got to do with a fighter jumping up or down a weight class. A catchweight fight is a fight where the weigh in limit agreed upon is between the standard weight class limits. 154 is a standard weight class limit, therefore it is not a catch weight.

BTW, lose the attitude, you're only embarrassing yourself further.

For example, when [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manny_Pacquiao"]Manny Pacquiao[/ame] fought [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Cotto"]Miguel Cotto[/ame], the fight was at a catch weight of 145 pounds to accommodate Pacquiao's smaller physique.

I agree, and would obviously prefer Pac at 147 or Sergio at 154+.

But if it's fought later this year (i.e November or December), this could be Floyd's idea of having a "tune-up" after coming off a 3 month stint in jail. Which, despite being a pretty crappy fight, makes a little sense.

Still - with Canelo being one of the biggest Mexican draws at the moment, I would have thought that this fight would have been held off until Cinco De Mayo 2013 (giving Canelo enough time to actually get some good wins under his belt against some of the top guys).

So Pac or Martinez late this year is still the only fight that truly makes sense for Floyd.

If he didn't stuff up and go to jail (like a dick, for the lack of a better term), there would be no issues and everyone (including his fans) could blast him to death if either fight wasn't made later this year (especially if the Canelo fight was pre-booked). Provided, of course, that both Pac and Martinez made reasonable offers and/or Floyd made unreasonable offers. Some people on here like to think that should a potential fight that involves Floyd doesn't come off, it's automatically Floyd's fault.

Again, what relevance does that have to what we are discussing?
