I don't know. Canelo looks beastly right now. I want to see someone carry him into deep waters. It looked like Lopez was on his way to doing that. Mayweather could possibly do it, but he needs to lose that lay on the ropes bull****.

This is insane, wtf canelo has fought? He is not prepared to fight any elite fighter and he will get schooled by Lara, Cotto, Fraud and even feather fisted Molina will give him a lots of trouble, just because the guy is red it doesn't mean he is from Mars, the kid hasn't prove $h1t and is been protected more than Fort Knox, he has yet to face a real contender from his own division and some gingertards make him a winner over Cotto and cia, some ppl here are real knowledgeable...

We still haven't seen him face a southpaw in a division packed with good ones. I'll reserve my opinion until he does, but my guy says Lara and possibly Trout would give him trouble, and Cotto is about a 50/50 fight.

Lara would beat him but the'd give the decision to Canelo for obvious reasons. I do think he'd beat Cotto at this stage. I realise that's a fairly bold statement.

He beat ring magazine's current #2 lightweight in his third fight aged 16 and again in 2008.

That said, he has definitely been protected since he's been at 154.

Cotto is a proven fighter that has fought the best of the best, Canelo hasn't fought any top 5 in his own division, we don't have nothing to compare because he never fight a true JMW, he is being matched against jww-ww or old fighters past their prime, do you think he will be able walk down Vanes, Lara, Trout or Molina the same way he did against Lopez? The kid is an unproven prospect not a Champion and soon they will have to pitch him against real men or cash out...

The last guy I though wouldn't lose was named Tyson. Alvarez isn't even close to that level of ferocity and intimidation. Nobody knows how good Canelo really is because he hasn't been tested. Besides Cotto's brother had him out on his feet at 147, in the first round too, if I remember it right. Old ass Mosley was able to touch Saul up a little bit, imagine what someone who isn't 100, or 5x smaller might do. The jury is still out on this guy.....

So the #2 lightweight, for some reason it sounds familiar.

I was just thinking the same thing (with the whole Tyson comparison). I'll admit, I'm buying the hype... a little bit lol.

At some point Canelo HAS to fight a credible opponent. Beating Lopez was ridiculous, it might as well had been Calderon in the ring with him.

Martinez can still make 154 for sure, I'd favour him over Canelo.
