So what if Mexicans are going crazy over a red headed 20yr old fighter that has potential? People aren't going to be told who they should route for **** you. There was a time when they had adopted a Cuban son in the great Jose Mantequilla Napoles who was as black as tar and gave him a fan following. And clowns like interceptor of cocks want to label Mexicans racist.

I think there is some jealously involved by many Mexicans here when discussing the rich history and tradition of African American fighters. They seem to take it personal anytime someone says something great about one and not a Mexican fighter. The truth is African Americans have a better tradition in boxing than Mexicans. No need to get upset over it.:yep:good

Why is it African American or Mexican? Why not American or Mexican? Race has nothing to do with this.

And Mexico have been producing boxers for nowhere near the amount of years America has. Compare them since 1990 and it's a different story. Looking at it now, would be like comparing Britain to America in 1910. They're impossible to compare because of the length of time they've been producing fighters.

Do you see this thread being made by a Mexican calling an African American a hype job? ****ing Devon Alexander was getting alot of hype here, and after his lackluster performance you dont see me making negative posts about him...had he been a mexican you best belive that interceptor ****** would be all over it.

Relax man just giving you guys a hard time. I like Alvarez although I didn't see his fight against Baldo I saw his fight against Cotto's brother. I thought he showed great recovery ability after being hurt early, a lot of guys his age might have gone into a shell looking only to survive for the rest of the fight. He's and accurate puncher and finished Cotto off nicely. He's only 20 and will continue to get better, the guy has a bright future.

Jack Dempsey admitted he was afraid of Jack Johnson and admitted he didnt want to be knocked out. Jack Johnson was Gene Tunney before Gene Tunney, he would have completed nuetralized Jack Dempsey. But lets be honest Jack Dempsey made a point not to fight black champions, whether Jack Johnson or toherwise.
Nothing rose tinted about it. There are only 40,000,000 black people in America. Compare that to 100,000,000 in Mexico or 60,000,000 in Britain. Yet black Americans have produced the best fighters. Its just a fact.

Utter nonsense. Leonard fought like a slickster. He would beat the breaks off of you if he knew he could win easy, but if he was facing someone bigger and stronger then him like a Hagler or Duran, he boxed off the back foot, shoe shined against the ropes, and slipped punches. I.e Slickster. Hell he's more of a slickster then Mayweather who catches punches on his gloves rather then outright dodge them most of the time.

Please list what fights Ali got into before his fight with Frazier, where he was forced to because his legs werent what they used to be. He certainly wasnt getting into brawls with the likes of Patterson or Moore who he could have easily had out in 2 rounds.

    You're an idiot.

Sorry even as hyped as Devon was, he had no where near the hype that your average mexican hope has.

What year are we talking about here? Dempsey never said that during his prime. He wasn't even that complementative towards Wills, never mind a truly shot Johnson.

Dempsey would have completely wiped the floor with him.

Johnson and Tunney were from two different schools of boxing. Johnson's main defence was catching shots, Tunney evaded with foot movement. They were both defensive but not very alike.

That's true, Dempsey didn't fight them but he wanted to fight Wills, at least. There's far too much politics concerning the black fighters then to hold anything against white champion.
It's nothing to do with "black Americans". There were many black American champions, yes, but also many white champions too. The people who had the lowest cultural standing produced the most fighters. It's not that they were more talented, it was just a way out for a higher percentage of black men.

Before black Americans were free, white Americans dominated. When the Jewish community was being persecuted, there was a high level of Jewish champions. Now the Mexican Americans are at the bottom, they're producing more elite fighters.

Mexico has only just started to compete because Chavez was the first Mexican boxing superstar. People like Sal Sanchez weren't massive and it needed a star like Chavez to hugely boost Mexican boxing.

Britain were a dominant force in boxing until the late 1800's. The two wars crippled the country and we only fully recovered quite recently. America had the funds to monopolise boxing and did.

Leonard was a boxer, not a slickster.

Ali only became a star after his return to boxing. Anything before the Frazier fights is before he was a star.

hype job or not, I enjoy watching this kid fight. For being a 20 yr old he shows great patience. You gotta give him props for telling Baldo to keep the money they were going to fine him for being overweight during the weigh-in. I don't know how far he can go, but if he keeps improving, stays focused, and dosn't get rushed, he could go far.

They should throw him in there with a slick fighter just to see what he can do with that kind of style. See if he can cut off the ring, and time his punches right.

You idiots really need to chill with that racism (on both sides), on the real. It's sad and pathetic.

Oh wow look at all those Fights of the Years with all those African Americans.... Oh wait there isnt any wait wait no yep theres one. ok maybe 2.....

Stop using the race card. All nations provide great talents for boxing and yes African Americans are obviously a big part of boxing along with latinos.

As far as Canelo. You would have to be blind not to see the possible talent there. This kid is 20 and he is fighting on the same level as Berto who is much older and experienced.

Obviously he is going to be a start since he is already getting his own group of haters like PBF Pac and DLH have.
