I don't think it's the only logical conclusion that GGG's fans or GGG for that matter are terrified of the rematch. Maybe some of them..me for example, are just tired of the back and forth drama concerning the rematch.

We have the Byrd card, hand wraps, failed test, suspension, VADA enrollment, dropped from rankings, a meat commercial, tainted meat, GGG interviews, GB quotes. Am I leaving anything out?

I would agree it's still the biggest fights to be made money wise for both fighters. But how long will all of this go on? It's getting tired honestly.

I'm a GGG fan. But I am also reasonable. At one point, GGGs age will in fact catch up to him and he will no longer be considered an elite fighter. It happens to all of them. Would a Canelo win over a 38 year old GGG mean anytbing?

 

Well I'm tired of all the drama too. Most of what you listed was coming for Golovkin's side. (either his fans or his team) The Byrd card shouldn't have produced the reaction it did, I understand why it did, Canelo performed brilliantly and Byrd rewarded him for his performance round after round. You don't have to agree with him winning that many rounds, but many of those rounds were tough to score. To this day, largely as a reaction to that card, many posters on this forum don't even think it's reasonable to have Canelo winning the fight let alone him winning 10 rounds. I mean, a judge gave Sugar Ray Leonard 10 rounds vs Marvin Hagler and as far as I know, no one threw a hissy fit about it, and hardly anyone even remembers that card. Of course we didn't have internet back then, and the fanbases weren't as passionate like they are with Canelo vs Golovkin, but I mean to still be complaining about that card

How about the drama so many Golovkin fans were carrying on about before the fight about how Golden Boy was supposedly gonna pay off the judges? The Byrd card distracted us from the fact that Canelo outboxed Golovkin and landed the harder more significant punches and still two judges didn't see him winning the fight? That scandal was ignored with all the focus being on the Byrd Card in which her margin of victory (the source of the outrage) didn't do anything to determine the result.

The hand wraps was a complaint filed by Abel Sanchez on fight night where he was completely wrong and out line thinking that Canelo's hand wraps were illegal and the NSAC official ensured him that they were legal. So that was Golovkin camp drama involving whining and being unprofessional in terms of not knowing what an illegal hand was. (and the Golovkin fanbase slurped it up and many still believe to this day that Canelo's handwraps were illegal - such unneeded drama)

The failed test and everything that resulted from it (suspension, VADA enrollment, dropped from rankings, a meat commercial, tainted meat, GGG interviews, GB quotes) was all absurd drama that occurred because cooler heads didn't prevail and Golovkin's team were trying to play politics over it.

The failed test should have been accepted by the public as an obvious case of meat contamination, resulting in no suspension. But no, Golovkin's team particularly Sanchez had to come out and make all this drama like how Canelo should be tested more, Canelo needs to re-enroll in VADA, etc etc etc. The ridiculous meat commercial. I agree that I was tired of all that stuff but it was really all coming from the Golovkin side. (either from his team or from fans parroting what Sanchez or Golovkin himself was putting out there)

You're last comment about Golovkin aging is even more of a reason why the rematch needs to happen ASAP and why he shouldn't fight someone else lol. The rematch should have already happened, if there wasn't such a big hullabaloo about Canelo testing positive for trace amounts of clenbuterol while living in a country with a well known meat contamination problem lol. It's absurd that trace amounts of that caused the fight to be cancelled.

So I agree that the fight needs to happen ASAP but the excuse about Golovkin becoming too old is "getting tired" you wanna know why? Because last year Golovkin's fans were using "age" as a pre-fight excuse also and that was a year ago. If you look at Golovkin's performance on May 5th, he looked better than ever and really showed no signs of aging. I mean honestly he looked younger and fitter than he did last September. Last September vs Canelo he looked washed out as he walked to the ring.

So it's tiring hearing Golovkin fans use every excuse in the book as insurance for if Golovkin loses to Canelo. It just comes off as complaining and being fearful of seeing him face Canelo. I agree that the fight needs to happen now and all the drama is tiring. If you remember last year after the draw I came on here wanting the rematch to happen last December. I was gutted when all the clenbuterol drama happened not because I thought Canelo was a cheater since it was an obvious case of meat contamination but I was just bummed that we had to wait until later in the year to see the rematch. I agree that a year is far too long for this to be settled, but what we don't want is for us to have to wait longer than a year like until G is 38 or something ridiculous.

What I want to see is the rematch is September, and there's any controversey like a disputed decision, an immediate rematch in December.

It's time for these guys to settle this feud, we're on the precipice of seeing these two settle their differences in the ring. I say "lets get it on". No more BS, no more excuses, time to fight.

 

Yes that’s right but fair play both attended the fight and both said Golovkin won but then I’m sure since then he’s gone back on that lol,trying to say he’s viewed it from his home and now thinks Canelo won lol......can’t make it up re Those two.
Don’t forget that it was Ego putting out those press pics from Golden Boy of Canelo “looking Swole” and other vids about his gains lol........that’s one thing they can’t go back on as they flogged it to death about how Canelos new found size and gains was gonna help him knock out GGG lol.

 

Straight up now Shadow is Golden Boy paying you to come on here?cause as a Canelo fan you can say whatever you want about your fandom of him but please don’t even try and blame Gennady for their being no rematch.
Golovkin still fought on the same date and the sole reason for their being no fight is that CAnelo got caught twice with an illegal drug in his system and was therefore suspended.

That’s all there is to it and given Canelo had all his usual A side shenanigans with venue,larger share of money and god knows what else that to suggest it’s Golovkins fault is nothing short of what Oscar and Canelo would say and I seriously doubt even you could be as blinkered as they as you don’t have anything invested in it do you?

As for the hand wraps you should take a look at it for yourself,could be a mute point or a loophole and not illegal but please take a look at Gs wraps and Canelos it really is eye opening,not sure this would happen but if there’s nothing dubious about creating casts on the handwraps then they should wrap up GGGs hands the same.
Last point this wasn’t just Abel was it as Smiths team had a heated exchange about before Golovkin.
