Even now Canelo probably edges it, and Canelo's resume will get better you would think. And I'm no fan of his.

Dude this is an obvious no brainer Canelo>>>>Ward
Fight off Kovalev-Ward series is way more controversial than Canelo-GGG,
Ward was getting outboxed got dropped and his ass handed to him most of fight I and had to low blow repeatedly to win fight II. Canelo only real issue was activity in fight I and dominated GGG in fight II was never dropped or hurt that’s one.
Next Canelo whose been unified champ in 3/4 divisions has beaten the #1 fighter in 3/4 divisions not to mention Canelo moving up to LHW to devastate Kovalev in a way never before done who was still a top 3 fighter and Champ,

if Canelo is able to reach his fully attainable goal of facing Saunders in May and Plant in the Fall to become undisputed at 168 ad well as his previous accomplishment he’ll put even more dust on Ward

Ward's better. Everybody he beat he did so convincingly, except for Kovalev. I think he ranks higher currently but Canelo could surpass him. But I think I'll always see Ward as the better fighter. I prefer Canelo though. Ward's fights could get ugly.

Are you serious? Canelo by a mile. It’s not even close. I’ve said some negative things about his cherry picking and diva antics but there is no denying what Canelo has accomplished. He’s the biggest name in boxing for a reason. At his peak, Ward could barely fill an arena in his home town. Canelo is on top of the boxing world and if he quit today, he would be cemented in history. He’s not quitting any time soon and I suspect this thread will be even more ridiculous as Canelo racks up more big names on his scalp. Ward is lucky Canelo wasn’t around when he was in his prime because I think Canelo would have given him a proper beating.

I still don't get the fuss with ward, he was to inactive for me throughout his career.

By the time nelo has retired we won't be muttering them in the same sentence ever again.

It is a well known fact that Gingers are the most despised group of people on the planet... Sad.

They were right and he is wrong. Ward won end of just because he does not like it does not make him right. In the 2nd fight Ward took his soul.

Even Canelo a proper student of the game knows this is not true.

Ward wouldn’t be allowed to use his dirty tactics against Canelo and Canelo would return the favor if he tried. Close decision would go to Canelo but I dont think Ward would hear the final bell. He certainly wouldn’t get a gift decision like the first Kov fight. Canelo would school Ward.

It would be a schooling similar to the one Mayweather gave Canelo but worse as Ward is even bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic than Canelo better all round and hits harder.

will have to see more fights from Canelo at SMW to really make a fair assessment but Canelo is one of the fastest fighters in every division he’s been in, there’s really only been 3 fights were there was a noticeable difference Mayweather,Lara, & Khan he went 2-1 with a ko.
Canelo is vastly underrated his defense and bodywork is top notch and has been for a while.
I credit the Mayweather fight for making Canelo add to his game every fight since he’s shown subtle improvements from Floyd to Lara you saw when a fighter was too fast to hit their head his adjustment to pounding the body which had Lara running for deer life most of that fight. I also credit GGG I fight for Canelo improving his stamina most fighters have gotten gunshy after taking a few shots GGG for the flack I give him has a hella of a chin and work rate after fight I Canelo has gotten better cardio during fights and had been fighting hard for 12 rounds..
Ward is a quality boxer although his style is ugly at times he’s a gritty rugged boxer with many veteran tricks Canelo from the Kovalev/Smith fight vs Ward from Kovalev I thats a toss up Canelo might be a slightly better boxer on the low Canelo got soul man

Peak Ward against current Canelo would be an intriguing fight. To face Ward now would be a no win situation for Canelo.

Personally, I think Canelo still hasn't caught up and that's because so many of his wins could have gone the other way. Had all his wins been clear, I'd have him above Ward even right now in the middle of his career.
