    That's harsh, but I can't disagree.

Imagine Terrible Terry vs. Canelo? (of course, if a poll was made - being ESB, there would be a fair # of votes for Norris to be KTFO :-()

People underestimate Canelo so much now. It is not surprising though. Once GBP picked him up and gave him the Golden treatment of course people are going to get mad.

People dont realize this is a kid who is only 21 years old and has blitzed through everyone they have put in front of him. Probably hasnt even lost 12 rounds his whole career. He stopped Baldomir who no one had even come close to stopping. Last man to actually come after Canelo and go toe to toe with him.

Since then he has fought guys that have tasted his power and just tried to survive by being negative. Gomez was a guy who came forward because he saw Canelo attempting that wack philly shell which was a failure but as soon as Canelo stepped it up he got Gomez out of there.

Canelo is good, especially for being so young.

He just isn't up there with top light middles of the past, as Quincy K pointed out.

I actually think that Baldomir win is quite underrated. Last week Baldomir fought his country's top middleweight (behind Maravilla, obviously :tong) - a young fighter who's only B level but posed a real challenge for Tata being close to half his age, tough, unbeaten, and with decent skills - and IMO got robbed blind.

Beating the current Mosley will pretty much just sustain the status quo as far as his resume goes - not improve it too substantially.

Beating anyone top 10-15 in a convincing manner - a D-Rod, a Trout, a Vanes, etc. - will start to turn heads, legitimize his resume as a top guy, and earmark his improvement and evolution as a fighter settling into manhood and coming into his own.

I do agree with whoever said it doesn't matter really who he chooses for primary sparring as far as prepping for Mosley goes. His athleticism, hustle and aggression alone should be enough to have this one in the bag unless Shane turns back the clock and pulls another Margarito night out of his ass.

Still, Forbes was an odd choice.

Not odd at all when you realize he is simply trying to get acclimated to Floyd's style.

Why do people think Mayweather-Canelo is anything close to guaranteed for any time soon? :huh

The time it would make sense to maximize profits is the very day he's fighting Cotto.

The next most logical date is therefore May 5th, 2013. (what with Floyd's big fight history on CDM weekend; and the fact that Mexicans will have one of their own in the main event for once, since they consider Oscar a Born-in-East-LA gringo. Fighting Canelo any time other than a CDM weekend doesn't make business sense...)

Canelo is prepping for Floyd's style thirteen months in advance? :blood That's some dedication.

Counting Shane, Canelo will probably have three fights before he meets Mayweather - if he does at all.

Doesn't matter what you think is the most profitable avenue, it is clear that Alvarez thinks Floyd is next, which is why he has Forbes. Clear as day.

Maybe Canelo will be his comeback fight once he serves his 90 days or maybe he will be the fall back option if the Manny negotiations don't go through, but it is obvious that someone has told Canelo that he is in line for Floyd and he is preparing for that fight.

norris? canelo wouldve been roughed up by yory boy.

martinez wouldve been able to compete at 154, his true division but canelo, a 5'7" canelo with no ko power?

prime winky, vargas, tito...canelo would've been abused or schooled by all these guys.

hustle and aggresion, yes. athleticism? not so sure. i dont think canelo could make a three point jumpshot, juggle a soccerball more than 10 times or dribble a basketball left-handed the entire length of the court.

mosely cant turn the clock back.

    thats why hes fighting canelo.

    Agreed.

Canelo won't be Floyd's next fight. I think it's going to be Martinez in Nov/Dec. If the Pacquiao fight can't be made for Spring 2013 then maybe we'll see Mayweather/Alvarez...

Canelo was on the reserves for a pro soccer team when younger. Just goes to show how hilarious this board can be.

Yeah I think even for a PRO mexican Team.

They are talking about Prime guys facing a young Canelo..let this guy peak and then they can talk about how he would match up with the better era of 154 pounders. same **** is said about Pacquiao and Mayweather that they wouldn't hang with the Durans, SRL, hearns were active...

He's getting there, and for 21 he is being compared to some pretty good people so he currently is in good company.
