Canelo bullying the bully and beating him in the rematch has made him a superstar. :naughty2:

Dazn couldn't have done it without him.

DAZN will fall on its face, I hope. Nobody wants it. My hope is that ESPN'S boxing budget increases and they give it more coverage. That is the only way for boxing to really grow in the public view in my opinion. A paid monthly streaming service for fights doesn't attract casuals it excludes them, in my opinion more so that ppv.

Fact is, people will easily pay $10 for a fight (or 2-3 fights) over illegally streaming it.

    This.

The music industry finally realised this after years of trying to stop piracy. Offer them an inexpensive service and consumers will pay rather than searching for pirated content.

I dunno. It's possible fans - especially casual Canelo fans - will subscribe for the month when he's fighting, unsubscribe straight after, and then resub when he's next scheduled to box. That's like getting two PPVs for $20. I would love to see the stats for those who let their subs expire the month after he's boxed.

Casuals are not paying $10 MONTHLY for a sport they only care about when there's a big fight. That's what these DAZN execs aren't realizing.

The guy who said that DAZN excludes the mainstream is 100% correct.

How does this work? Does DAZN allow for a one-month subscription or do you have to commit to 6-12 or something?

Different business model though. People pay for music they are happy to listen to time and time again. People generally only want to watch certain fighters, and when they do, watch their fight only once. Not saying a streaming service can't work with boxing but it works in a very different way to music....

I thought you can dip in and out for a month, but I could be wrong...

EDIT: According to their website you can cancel monthly

Yeah, neither did I for sure... but confirmed, Canelo fans can now watch his him fight twice a year for $20. I'm guessing they might re-evaluate this at some point...
