Canelo Alvarez - Sugar Ray Robinson and Monzon Would Not Have Beaten Me..

Canelo is a helluva fighter, but schooled is a perfect word here.

 

I think Robinson would stop Canelo. I don’t believe a guy who lost to Floyd could beat the best Robinson or Monzon they’d be much bigger, younger and much better fighters.

 

He’s so delusional and his ego is out of control. One of the most unjustifiably arrogant fighters I can recall.

 

He wouldn’t be an easy night for either guy, IMO.

 

True .... I am not denying he's a very good fighter but Robinson t welter or middle with his speed and power ? He also should have lost at lest lost once and had a gift draw w an old GGG ... but he beats Monzon ? Come on ...

With at the time he had 40 pro fights, ( So the claims of him not being ready......) weight and power advantages and youth.
Mayweather Jr. Was excellent at one thing. That's assessing the threats of opponents.
He saw Canelo was a minimum threat to him.
That's why he fought him.

It's great Canelo has confidence in himself.
But the reality is Ray Robinson and Carlos Monzon would beat the hell out of him.
So would most ATG Welterweights Jr. Middleweights and Middleweights.

 

Alvarez should be saying that. I am sure that, in an honest moment, Robinson would say he'd beat Monzon and Canelo, and Escopeta would feel he would be victorious. I have no problem with Canelo believing in himself.

I don't thank Alvarez would beat either guy but he would have a better chance against SRR. I've always thought of Robinson as the #1 head to head welterweight but just a great middleweight.

 

If you ever wondered why even in Mexico Canelo is disliked, then you got your response.
