Jr. is complaining that Canelo is making 5 times what he is for the fight. Apparently Chavez been offered 5-6 million with very little upside. For a fight of this magnitude in order for it to get made Canelo should offer more upside. Canelo is the A side for sure. But if Canelo blows the fight, he risks letting GGG get the fight instead. Golovkins team would gladly fight Chavez at 168 for less money. If Canelo blows the Chavez Jr fight he will then have to fight the slick and tricky Saunders.
I don't get into The Who should get how much arguments cus at the end of the day they don't pay my bills. But I will say that Chavez represents Canelos biggest payday for the least risk.
What's interesting about the Chavez matter is the weight. If GGG fights Chavez at the full 168, it will be a much better fight than Canelo Chavez at 165 as those 3 pounds could mean the difference between a healthy and strong chavez and a weak and drained one. For the record, I can support Canelo Chavez at 168 much more than I do the fight being made at 165
Another farcical fight for Canelo after Khan and then Smith. This guy is a joke and is clearly doesn't want to fight anyone who isn't a welterweight moving up.
Maybe Canelo and Oscar realized that a guy with a 5 to 6 inch height advantage and a huge weight advantage might actually be a tough fight, Amarillo strikes again.
Huh?? He doesn't want to fight "anyone who isn't a welterweight moving up"?? Last time I checked Smith wasn't a welterweight moving up, he was an established 154-lb World Title Holder. Cotto wasn't a welterweight "moving up". Cotto had been fighting at 154 / above 154 for some time when he fought Canelo. Besides Khan, you have to go back to 2012 to find somebody Canelo fought who was moving up from welterweight. (Floyd was a 154 lb title holder when he fought Canelo) More importantly, fighting Chavez at Super MW is the complete opposite of fighting a welterweight moving up. That's fighting somebody two weight classes above.
i personally think these guys are using the media and fans irrational hate of Canelo to try and get more than what there worth, Chavez while a name opponent isn't as big as he was last fight wasn't even on tv, 6mil is 3x his last payday but because it's Canelo people are gonna find a reason to hate. Same with GGG right now Pacquiao is still more popular than GGG et people will argue that Glolovkin should get as much or more than Manny wants for a fight vs Crawford, between the two Chavez and GGG have 2 PPV fights and combined still didn't do as much as Canelo vs Khan. We've seen Alvarez do what he can to make big fights gave Lara a base of 1mil while his was 1.5 before PPV and Lara is nowhere near the draw Alvarez is, Gave into everything Cotto wanted when he was arguably a bigger star at that point than Miguel, gave in with weight to Mayweather which made since but he could of b1tched like GGG and said 154 or no fight but didn't. People blame Canelo for these fights not happening but Chavez is well known to be unprofessional and GGG has been notoriously difficult to negotiate with, these guys want more than they actually bring instead of taking great money for 90% of fighters in the sport.
Chavez is really overestimating his worth; he should take what he can get he won't get any title shot anytime soon. He's a lazy, unprofessional idiot.
Chavez overestimates his worth, and will be left with less than had he just taken these offers he gets. But I wont be sad if the fight falls through. Its time for Canelo to fight a top name again now. He had his lil run with smith n khan... time to take a top scalp now.
Yeah only way Chavez makes 165 is with no drug testing which funnily enough is what I'd expect with that fight
Well you have a point there,Chavez is famous for being unprofessional and Canelo is nothing like Mayweather who would pay himself 40 million to the other guys 2 mill?
