Technically he is suppose to fight vanes next- according to that maze elaborated by GBP to get a shot at Canelo. But Vanes hasn't show any interest so far. He wants a shot at junior or Canelo without fighting a live body, he even ducked Angulo.

Canelo does indeed have all the tools to beat Lara.

Lara. Simply because he is a class(in terms of skill), or more, above Canelo.

    Canelo wins this one.

They both have comparable skill set. The one big difference is their infighting. Lara really has none. He is a mid to long range guy. Canelo can fight him anywhere he wants and he hits harder. We saw how Lara struggled with the pressure of Molina as well as Brewer. Canelo would stalk him and eventually end up catching him. Of course people will say otherwise because Lara KOd the might Hearns last night but come on. We all expected it.

After May 5th the vote will probably sway as soon as Canelo stops Mosley.

But think of a skilled fighter on his prime that canelo has faced so far, someone quick with counterpunching skills.Gomez was tagging Canelo and gomez isn't exactly fast.
forget about just the Lara from last night and forget Lara from Molina, just get the overall Lara.Analize his IQ in the ring, his defense and reflexes, his footwork.
He handled PW for 12 rds who is way more busy than canelo as a pressure fighter and he took him to school.
I never underrate Canelo,i liked him from the beginning despite the fact of being overprotected.I think he can adjust to a competitive fight but today i see Lara as the favorite to win.
i see cotto being more difficult for Lara, being Lara the underdog.

The Gomez fight was bad for Canelo I think just because he tried to use that wack shoulder roll. It obviously did not work very well and once he realized he was just getting tagged he turned it around and stopped Gomez. The stoppage was bull**** but it was inevitable.

If you look at Canelos resume it is very underrated. Yea he should not be champion but that resume for a 21 year old is crazy. Usually when a 21 year old faces the tough jorneyman type of fighters Canelo has faced they tend to struggle and are forced to adapt. Canelo has blown everyone out of the water whether it is out boxing them or if they are foolish enough by stopping them.

Lara is a great fighter as well but I have to give Canelo the edge. Lara would have to have a great chin to be able to take Canelos power and honestly I do feel Laras power is overrated due to all his KO1 he has had. when the level went up the KOs stopped coming.

His resume was looking great until he got the title and started avoiding contenders.I was impressed about the way he disposed baldomir and I was advocating for no rushing him to a higher level when suddenly he fights welter Hatton and got the belt.
I think he will beat Mosley easily,Shane has nothing left in the tank and I think he'll fight JK next, he has a better chance against brave and defenseless Kirkland than against a technician like Lara.
They are both in a collision path,as a fan I hope they meet one day in the ring.We all are gonna win if happens.

On paper Canelo has fought former champions which seems impressive and is an achievement but when he fought them they were crap and very faded as Mosley will be. Alvarez can beat Lara. He can beat williams. He can be Bundrage and Kirkland in a big way. My frustrations is that he's facing faded guys not worth a thing anymore but their names instead of facing worthy 154 pd'ers and getting gifted a belt he didn't deserve. Mosley has never been impressive at 154 and is again not worth a thing but his name. He beats the guys I listed props to him but he is clearly being bitchy for the moment.

Exactly. I mentioned he isn't fighting worthy 154 lb'ers and him beating M. Hatton for a 154 belt is disgraceful. People need to stop defending him just for tribalistic/nationalistic reasons and realize he's being protected and cowardly for the moment giving the sport a bad name. Guys talent shouldn't be wasted on no hopers and faded guys if he's as truly as special as he's lauded to be.

Lara is a superstar , he would wipe the floor with Canelo , this has to be the fight that Golden Boy want for Canelo , and for Lara for that matter , putting aside promotional favourites , these 2 simply have to be on a collision course

Lara , should be pushing GB for meaningful fights , the guy is super super talented and all you here about is Saul Alvarez who isn't on Lara's level !!!!!

    A shot at Canelo ?????

Canelo is the one getting the shot here , forget titles , its about level's , and Canelo isn't as good a fighter as Lara in any single department

Lara took the most awkward man in boxing , and the most feared man @154 and literally schooled him , thats Paul Williams BTW , who would box Canelo's ears off for 12 long rounds for the boy Alvarez !!!!

Canelo hasnt fought anybody worth mentioning near the same breath as Paul Williams , Lara has had troubles in his pro career , but when its clear a fighter is finding there feet as a pro , having been an outstanding ama , then its pretty dam clear , and Lara is " finding his feet " quite nicely at the moment

Lets wait and see how Alvarez does with Mosley and then we could talk about Lara. Unfortunately is not like Saul and his team want any of Lara, to risky.

PW was nothing when Lara got to him. Canelo would have stopped PW being that he is a great counter puncher and he carries big power.
Lara is prime right now and Canelo is probably about 3-4 years away from it. The belt is bull**** since it just put unecessary pressure on Canelo.

One day this fight will get made.
