We saw each against William Scull, during the past 9 months. One knocked Scull down 3 times for a TKO win. The other won a 12 round decision. If Alvarez and Bank fought each other next, who would win? This content is protected
Well Canelo's all last wins aged like a fine milk. Plant - nearly got KO'd by totally unknown guy, then got beaten by MW fringe contender. Golovkin - 40+, never fought again. Ryder - knocked out by Munguia in his next fight. Charlo - already inactive going into the fight, never fought again. Munguia - got one-punch KO'd by featherfisted Euro-level opponent (who had like 12% KO ratio). Berlanga - brutally KO"d by Sheeraz, who was previously schooled by Adamez. Scull - lost every round and got KO"d by a guy no one have heard before.
I watched Banks highlights and was impressed but still picked Scull, Banks basically picked up where Shiskin left off in the 12th round Scull was taller, looked bigger frame wise and used his length and foot work to try and box Canelo. Canelo seemed content to just edge rounds but not push or force the fight. At the time I was unimpressed with Canelo but sort of gave him the benefit of the doubt vs a negative styled opponent who did not want to engage. I think in hindsight this fight should have been more of an indicator of what to expect in the Crawford fight where Canelo could not hit the target or get much of anything going. Canelo despite unifying belts and winning a title at 175 was never a big 168 pounder, sure he is built like a tank but in many fights he is shorter and looks smaller on fight night. Now that his punch accuracy and activity have gone down and he is getting slower, I think a lot more fighters can out box him and he is vulnerable. I am not quite sure I am ready to say he loses to Bank but I feel like the margin has significantly tightened and I would not be surprised if Bank won.
He knocked out Willian Scull on Saturday, after winning every single round. This content is protected
Too early for me. Bank hasn't proven enough. Scull isn't anywhere near Canelo's level - although it is true that Canelo's recent wins has aged rather poorly.
I’m impressed by Bank and even though he might not ready be for Canelo right now, Bank’s speed will give Canelo problems. Bank is star in the making if keeps this up.
Bank was really impressive. And Alvarez is definitely past his best. The timing is right for a Bank win.
