I know about DAZN's wider business plan but, simply put, smart businessmen do not let one part of their business haemorrage money just so another part can do well and let things balance out.

Loss leaders only work in supermarkets when you have too many bananas or apples in stock and are willing to let them go at a loss to create space for something else. You don't keep selling the same item when it's losing money.

DAZN stinks of money laundering btw.

I doubt boxing is hemorrhaging them money. They stuck Canelo onto PPV.
 I would not be shocked at all.

I know they are spending a lot of money at the moment. But they have also seen massive revenue increases.

    https://www.fiercevideo.com/video/dazn-reached-15m-paid-subscribers-2022

Remains to be seen where the company is headed, but at the moment they are expanding at a rapid rate.
In 2019 it was reported that they had 4 million subscribers.

    Clenelo is sliding

Dominated by Bivol, struggled the last 4 rounds against GGG at a weight GGG was new to, I think the number of fights is starting to show

He will beat Ryder but will struggle at times

Bivol will eat him alive in a rematch

    Good info thank you.

The revenue doesnt matter as much to me as at the end of the day its about profits.

I believe they are at a total operating loss of over 5 billion dollars. (Could be mistaken on that but that's my understanding at least)

So they are 5 billion in the hole. And the revenue increases sound nice don't cover their costs, so as of now they are still at an operational cost deficit annually.

It will indeed be interesting to see where they go from here moving forward and how these soccer deals, which may make or break them, turn out.

From my understanding, they missed out on some big U.K. rights.
But 15 million subscribers is a really promising number.

But DAZN is here to stay for a while:

So any talk about their boxing costs is completely irrelevant. They seem to be happy with Matchroom and GBP.

He changed to a vegan diet and his stamina has hit the wall. He always struggled due to his explosive style, but he typically closed fights strong. This wasn´t the case in his last 2 fights.
And now he is getting older as well.

If Beterbiev wins that fight, I'd fear for Canelo and Ryder's life if they had to face him.

 PBC is slowly dying off anyways.
The talent they got from GBP is ageing out of the business and they haven´t really cultivated any stars since.
What is crazy is that they have only 3 scheduled events at the moment.

Apparently Canelo is taking a pay cut for this one.
Does this mean it won´t be on PPV?

DAZN is going anywhere. I think they'll continue to increase their stake in soccer and eventually eliminate their involvement in boxing. None of the fighters on their roster, e.g., Haney, Ortiz, the Smith brothers, etc., move the needle enough to make it worthwhile.

The next time someone receives a $500 million budget, they should avoid paying a king's ransom to one fighter. Instead, they should spend exclusively on the most competitive fights that fans want. By the time they spend the initial budget, Saudis, and others with deep pockets, should be lining up to bankroll future events. A handful of fighters should also emerge as legitimate household names.

    Agree

They should make the fights the customers and fans demand and want the MOST.

They need to work out the marketing and a UPS for each fight if required.

    Then get to it.....

No point protecting one single fighter and rinsing his fan base.

Why not build a fan base for multiple fighters and take them (all) to the next level instead?

Putting all eggs into the Canelo and Joshua basket is looking foolish right now.
