Canelo doesn't have neither workrate nor staina to compete with prime Hagler. Marvin would beat him easily by wide margin on independent cards and by much closer on the judges' ones.
Well Canelo just had a close fight with old GGG. So you're equating Hagler to old GGG, good compliment!
Canelo is past prime. He had to walk forward like Mayweather did against McGregor cos his legs are gone. Gennady had the legs , was fresher , primer and still lost. Canelo has 100's more rounds fought than Gennady , that means he's more shot. Still won.
Golovkin more fresh? Canelo fought 100's of rounds more? Thus affecting the legs? Not at all, someone had multiple hundreds of amateur fights ....
It depends what version of Hagler you're referring to. After he was robbed of a decision against Antuofermo for the title, he turned into a madman for a period of about 4 years and always looked to stop his opponents inside the distance. From 1978-1982, that was him at the peak of his powers both physically and mentally. His mentality during that stretch made him almost invincible in my eyes. The jobs he did to such MW's as Minter and Hamsho lead me to believe he'd stop Canelo in the later rounds (corner type of stoppage,) or wide points decision. Marvelous also wouldn't have a height disadvantage, something which I believe would favor him greatly.
