hey surely since Canelo can beat 3G, and 3G can smash some of the fab four, then surely Canelo can beat some of them?

Canelo loses to Duran. For all this talk of 'Man, Hagler took Duran lightly yadda-yadda' (insane talk for what would be Hagler's highest-profile win at that point) It was a close (but clear) points decision against a Duran who broke his hand during the fight. Duran's troubles came against Benetiez types who boxed from the outside and refused to engage. Canelo likes to engage and isn't fleet-footed enough to dance on the outside forever. Conversely, even in his 50s he ate up guys who came at him for lunch and spat them out. Duran's subtle defensive tricks and sporadically appearing power (at middleweight) would give Canelo fits. Close but points decision loss.

Sugar Ray is probably the one he has the best chance against, despite SRL arguably being the most skilled of the four. Canelo has great defensive ability (especially in the early rounds) that can give out-boxers fits. He could conceivably force SRL to fight on the inside, where the fight becomes a 50-50 chance, or better than because Canelo's a natural middleweight. It still wouldn't be guaranteed, though.

Hagler I don't think knocks him out either, but he will box circles around him. Too good, too versatile, too Marvelous. Wide decision loss.

Hearns would straight-up murder him. Why you gotta do Canelo like that?

    Assuming fair judging:
The 154 Leonard who beat Kalule outpoints the 154 Canelo who beat Trout.
The 154 Duran who beat Moore also outpoints that version of Canelo.
The Hearns who beat Benitez does the same thing.
Nearly any version of Hagler beats nearly any version of Canelo.

The Canelo of GGG 2 beats any version of SRL who fought at 160.
That same Canelo beats any version of Duran who fought at 160.
That same Canelo might beat the Hearns who lost to Barkley,
That same Canelo might beat the Hagler who lost to SRL.

So, there are some versions of all four fab fours who could beat Canelo.
And there are some versions of all four Fab Four who would or might lose to Canelo.

Canelo's best chances are against Leonard and Duran at heavier weights.
He has a difficult time against the other two at any weight.

I say Canelo would be competitive against all of them.
I'd favor him only against Duran since Duran was way out of prime when he fought at 160 lbs.

A Hearns matchup is a tossup imo. Canelo has excellent defense and attacks the body very well, while Hearns chin and stamina are shaky.

Leonard would fight cautiously and fight in spurts like he did vs Hagler.
Even if the fight was razor close you know that decision would go to America's Gold medal winning apple pie sweetheart in Sugar Ray Leonard.
Canelo would not knockout Leonard so Leonard would win anyway you cut it.

Hagler and Canelo are fighters of comparable skills. Hagler is more aggressive but Canelo is a better counterpuncher.
My clear choice to win would be Hagler and for two reasons.
    1. Hagler is Southpaw, always more difficult to fight.
    …...but more importantly,
    2. Stamina!
…..Hagler has Canelo beat by a very long mile as far as conditioning is concerned. Hagler wins clearly at the final bell and maybe even stops Canelo late if Canelo doesn't go into survival mode.

The reality here for me though is that Canelo imo belongs and competes in the same ring with either of the Fabulous 4.

I'd favor all of them against Canelo. Yes, even Duran. Duran was small, but he gave a hell for 12 rounds to arhuably the best middleweight of all time Marvin Hagler before fading late. Canelo's stamina is probably his biggest weakness, so I can't see Duran fading more than Canelo in the late rounds. I think Duran would beat him by close decision (with fair judges)
