Canelo has never beaten a Duran grade fighter, but Duran beat several Canelo grade fighters. If Duran shows up with his old "killer instinct", then he beats Canelo up.

If Duran's at the top of his game it's a brutal beat down.

I like Duran over the distance winning a wide decision with Canelo taking a drubbing in the later rounds. Duran is just too polished and crafty. Duran's his counter punching will eventually find a home on Canelo.

Canelo could hang with Duran early but his flaws will slowly became bigger and more obvious as Duran makes adjustments - such as going inside. Duran has slick enough skills to take away Canelo's jab away just as as FMJ did and we saw Canelo's offense become very average, even though Canelo was trying the amount landed and the threat of the offence dwindled each round. I think Canelo is physically strong enough to take a beating but last the distance.

Depends on what version of Duran shows up. Canelo's slow paced style wouldn't be especially problematic for Duran, so he definitely could win. Sort of like the Hagler fight but actually taking the edge. It would be Duran's best win 154 or higher if he pulled it off.

Duran of Moore wins. Duran of Laing loses. Definitely depends on which one shows up.

This would be somewhat similar to Duran-Palomino, with Duran dazzling Canelo with feints, combinations, and a wide variety of slick moves that would leave his man befuddled all night long. Duran wins an easy, impressive decision.

How does he win this easily if Canelo could edge Lara and Duran never beat anyone as good or as slick as Canelo 154 and higher? Makes no sense

Maybe if we're talking about Montreal Duran but I assume we're talking about the 154 version.

Duran can't exactly do what Mayweather did.

Honestly, it would be a pretty good fight.

Despite my current dislike for Canelo at the moment thanks to his antics regarding GGG, the truth is he is a brave and skilful fighter, and nobody, not even Duran, just walks through him. Add to this the massive size advantage that he'd bring to the party at 154, and this is not a walk in the park.

I think Duran would likely approach him similarly to the way he approached Moore. Take it easy for the first few rounds, feel his power, see how he reacts to various shots, and slowly turn up the gas to a sizzle mid-rounds.

I think I'd take Duran by UD in the end of a hard fight.
