Miguel Cotto, Erislandy Lara, Austin trout >>>>>>> Davey Moore, Pipino Cueves, Luigi Minchillo and losses to Benitez, Hearns, and Laing..
Alvarez has lost too. Cotto, Lara and Trout aren't so impressive. I don't buy your rating as being accurate. I know Alvarez has had a lot of fights at light-middle but that doesn't necessarily mean much. I mean, it doesn't necessarily make him as good a fighter as Benitez. Terry Norris has 19 title fight wins at 154, whereas Sugar Ray Leonard has 1. Yet if someone comes on this forum claiming Norris is better than prime Leonard, he'd be ridiculed. Point is, Alvarez doesn't stand out as a better class than Benitez until he beats better fighters.
I don't see what all the fuss is about with Alvarez. He might rank alongside Gianfranco Rosi I suppose.
That might be too generous though. He's still pretty young though so he could become a great fighter a few years down the line. But not yet.
Your advice applies even more to the person who said that Canelo is not even remotely in the same class as Robbie Simms or Kirkland Laing...
He went life and death with featherfisted Trout and barely scraped a win. Canelo was dominated by Lara and won by robbery. Canelo clearly whooped Cotto but failed to ever hurt the much older man with his hardest counters. Miguel took Canelos bombs with ease even i was shock at that. Hes shown he is very much beatable and Duran would easily defeat him.
If Duran is motivated, a pretty easy night, a lot of the fighters he defeated were better then Canelo.
