Once again, you cannot condone the actions of guys like Canelo, whilst you sh*t on GG's resume at the same time.

    It's just ridiculous.

It's because of the actions of guys like Canelo, that GG doesn't have a great resume.

    Work it out.

You'll excuse Golovkin to death, I know.

Golovkin is more worried about breaking a record that won't even make him better all time than the guy who owns the record he's competing against, and he's wasting his prime sticking around a division where he can't fight credible opponents.

If he cares about being great then he should do what great fighters do and seek challenges even when it means compromising an advantage.

I have addressed your points, twice now.

Again, if Golovkin can't create a Legacy to be remembered for all time by becoming an ATG at MW, perhaps its time he moves up or down to secure a position in the top 100.

I don’t think that’s true. Canelo has been blamed for having catchweights, when in reality it was his opponents that needed catchweights vs him. (Floyd, Cotto, Khan) Canelo has been having all these fights at 155, as a result of various factors, and as a result fans just naturally assumed that that’s the only weight he’d fight GG at. Maybe at one point a catchweight was on the table (before he signed to fight Khan), but I doubt it, and I don’t think there’s any way for us to definitively say that. I really think fans are just assuming that Canelo asked GG to come down to 155, because well that’s where he’s been fighting at, when in reality no such thing ever happened.

I don’t think Canelo ever changed his mind about it either, I just think when asked about 160 after Khan he said he has no problem having it at 160. I think there’s so much misinformation out here regarding Canelo it’s just unbelievable to me. A lot of it has to do with the language barrier. I mean you still have people thinking Canelo said “In Mexico we don’t **** around” when in reality he never even said that. He used the term mamadas to imply that in Mexico they are grown men not babies. The translator wanted to make what he said sound tough so he said “we don’t **** around”. You still have people thinking Canelo said in Mexico we don’t **** around! To make matters worse, many fans have used the fact that Canelo vacated as proof that he’s “ducking” GG, when in reality Canelo specifically said that fights for honor and glory. (not necessarily for titles) I mean it’s laughable how many ways posters on here have twisted Canelo’s words to make him look like a hypocrite when in reality nothing could be farther from the truth.

The deadlines are what caused Canelo to vacate the belt. There never should have been a deadline after the Khan fight. The WBC could have required him to fight GG later this year, without doing what they did setting an arbitrary deadline 2 weeks after the Khan fight. It was disrespectful and they shouldn’t have done it. They should have given Canelo and GG at least 2 months or something to come to the table freely and that didn’t happen. Then after Canelo vacates they just give the title to GG rather than have it be fought for. There’s also Cotto not paying the sanctioning fees for when he fought Canelo. There’s a lot to blame that could be put on the the WBC here. I really think the WBC really did a lot to prevent the fight from happening. It appears that GG wanted the title more than actually fighting Canelo. By giving him the title, they made it so GG had less of a reason to fight Canelo, when they could have kept the title vacant in the hopes that the fight could still be made. Making GG have to win it, vs Canelo or someone else, would have been better in any event. GG was actually talking about a 15-day deadline when interviewed at Canelo vs Khan, so that suggests that GG may have been even putting pressure on the WBC to stack the deck against Canelo, and basically taking GG’s side in negotiations then telling Canelo when he had to agree to these terms by.

All this stuff in my view strained negotiations and made it very difficult for negotiations to occur.

It just proves that once GG was given the WBC belt, he no longer (apparently) has a reason to fight Canelo. Lets be real, GG and his team put a lot of pressure on the WBC to put pressure on Canelo with these timetables and with the terms of the fight. Once GG was handed the belt, he’s now not going out of his way to fight Canelo. I think Canelo felt disrespected by the WBC and by all the negativity that was surrounding him in regard to the fight. GG isn’t in a position to dictate terms to Canelo. Canelo is a grown man and he’s not going to let GG get the commission to stack the deck against him. If GG wants to make the fight, then he’s got to come to the table to make the fight. GG hasn’t shown a willingness to do it, and Canelo now without that MW belt, has an opportunity to fight Smith for his title.

He deserves mad props for making some of the biggest and most exciting fights in Boxing. He fights a future HOFer in Cotto when the public demanded it. Then he makes a fight with Amir Khan one of the most exciting fighters in boxing. Now he’s fighting Liam Smith a fight that I personally think is an awesome fight that I can’t wait for.

A lot of people look at Liam Smith as an easy fight or something, but I mean the guy’s undefeated, he’s a title holder, and I think it’s a fantastic stylistic matchup. These are exciting fights for the fans, and if everyone wasn’t so preoccupied with Canelo vs GG, the opponents Canelo has been selecting would be universally praised.

As much as I want to see Canelo vs GG, at the same time it’s like can’t we be excited for Canelo vs Liam Smith?? This is a good fight, and it’s not getting the respect it deserves because you have all this negativity surrounding the GG fight! Canelo has been making big fight after big fight after big fight, and all many fans can do is just hate on him because the GG fight isn’t happening yet.

You want another reasons why he deserves mad props? Because he hasn’t backed down from actually fighting GG. He hasn’t made excuses. Even if Oscar doesn’t want that fight yet for whatever reason, when asked Canelo has been very vocal that he wants to fight Golovkin.

He deserves mad props for bringing us exciting fights over and over again like Khan and now Smith, with the possibility still of a Super Mega Fight with GG next year. Yet when I check these forums it’s like all many people do is just complain about everything Canelo is doing is bad when in my view he’s doing wonders for boxing.

I get that many fans are impatient that Canelo vs GG isn’t happening, but at the same time it may just be “business” and shouldn’t be blamed all on Canelo. Canelo has made it clear that he wants that fight, but if we have to wait until next year it’s not he end of the world. We should all be getting excited for Canelo vs Smith, I know I am! It seems to me that GG hasn’t even made a serious effort to make the fight!

    You have addressed nothing.

You are condoning one action whilst criticising another, not even realising or refusing to realise that one is partly responsible for the other.

    You are completely biased.

If you think GG has a sh*t resume, that's fine. I've no issue with that. But at least acknowledge that it's because of the actions of guys like Canelo.

Again, you can't condone the actions of Oscar, Canelo, Jacobs and Saunders for delaying the fights, whilst at the same time criticising GG's resume and ripping him for fighting his other mandatories and keep busy fights. Those guys are the reason why GG's resume isn't stronger than what it is.

Stop being biased and acknowledge the circumstances.

If Triple G called Ward into the ring, said I don't F around, the weight is ok, then proceeded to cut and run all you guys would lose your damn minds. This forum is a joke

The fight isn't going to happen. Canela just doesn't want to risk it.

There was supposed to be one interim fight before the mandatory. GGG fought a mandatory...Canela decided to fight a blown up WW. A Chinny, not even top 5 WW.

So now they are saying another year and a half to let Canela "aacclimate" to 160. Hmm..he could have fought literally ANY 160 fight instead of Khan, and could fight any 160 fighter now..who does he fight instead? A lightly regarded 154 champ.

    The fight isn't happening.

GGG would be better served breaking the MW record then moving up.

Canela is scared. He'd rather fight smaller guys where he has a distinct physical size advantage.
