From what I've been reading, they haven't even got anything in writing. It's basically just a verbal agreement to review the situation at some point next year.

    It means nothing.

what is the point of being remembered in a dying sport? 15-20 years from now, boxing won't even exist in america.

Didn't they have at least some sort of written agreement before the Khan fight?

    But I agree...it means nothing

Canela will keep finding smaller fighters than he will have a physical advantage over instead of fighting real MWs.

Mayweather is STILL DUCKING GGG! Why isn't Mayweather daring to be great? That is the reason why you're all hating on May, be honest.

How is a JMW fighting a JMW picking on smaller fighters?

His last fight he was a MW. He fought a guy who's last fight was at WW.

    This fight?

He will outweigh Smith on fight night by almost 10 pounds.

    That's IF Canela makes weight.

Canela is a MW who happens to have the body and metabolism to be able cut huge weight, then put it back on in 24-48 hours.

Let's see if he can still make JMW.
If he does, and he decides to fight there for awhile, then he's a JMW again.

The only fighter you can argue Canrlo was legit bigger than us Khan and Mayweather(who himself is a 3x JMW Champ).

Alvarez is the same size as most top 10 JMWs, what's up with this make believe that he's only fighting small guys.

As far as the last fight in the basis that a title is on the line its MW, but nobody considers or considered a fight 1lb over the division jumping weight especially in a non title fight.
Go watch Canelo-Angulo thru Kirkland and find anyone who calls those MW fight's.

Dude...so Cotto vs Canela was a JMW fight?

Here's the question..if 2 guys weigh 155 is it a JMW fight or a MW fight? Is it only a MW fight if the title is on the line?

If 2 guys weight in the MW limit, it's a MW fight.

What happens if Canela can't hit 154 in his next fight?

Canela was bigger than Cotto, he'll be bigger than Smith.

So fair question. How does fighting a chinny WW and a lightly regarded JMW champ prepare him for MW?

Cotto-Alvarez is only considered as such due to the belt, but if Vanes and Andrade fight tomorrow in a non title fight at 155 thats a JMW fight no rational person would call it anything other than a non title JMW fight.

Cotto has been coming into the ring 160+ since he was at 147 and has been fighting at or above JMW as long as Alvarez, Smith is a career JMW trying to pass either off as "smaller" guys is the dumbest sh!t ever and spreading propaganda.
If Canelo misses weight then that will look bad on him and he'd deserve to be bashed for it, especially considering out of his mouth 155 was simply due to no title shot, a non title fight 1lb above a division has never been considered jumping weight.

To your final point how does that even matter? I guess because you think he's a MW he should be seeking them out, when the fact is before and after the GGG situation came up Alvarez stated multiple times he's a JMW people like you just ignore it.
Even though I'm interested in a Canelo-GG fight overwhelmingly Alvarez has wayy better fight's available at 154, why should he be moving up is a better question? 154 is stacked and 147 has a lot of big fighters who would be interesting fights as well.

What legit reason can you come up with beside the lie that Alvarez is 180 fighting small guys that he should be moving up from a sport standpoint its 1 maybe 2 fights worth moving to MW for.
I mean seriously Smith would be the best win for basically every top MW and is IMO a cr@ppy fight for Canelo.

The disagreement seems to be the difference between JMW and MW.

To me what's the point of having weight classes if you aren't going to stick by them?

If 2 guys fight at 155 and you aren't going to call it a MW fight, or its only a MW fight if the a title is on the line, then what weight IS a MW fight? 156? 57? 58? Or does it have to be the full 160 now to be a MW?

This is part of the issue with people buying into the whole Canela weight nonsense. A guy fighting at the MW range, having a MW title, but still claiming to be a JMW.

So if Canela weighs in at 155, and he buys the pound from Smith to allow the fight to continue, does he win Smiths belt? Of course not. Because he is no longer a JMW at 155 regardless if he buys that 1 pound or not.

The propaganda of Canela's fight night weight is in part due to his own making by refusing to get on the fight night scale. It gives the appearance of hiding something.
