NAC 467.432 Bandages for hands of unarmed combatant. (NRS 467.030) 1. Bandages on the hand of an unarmed combatant may not exceed one winding of surgeon’s adhesive tape, not over 2 inches wide, placed directly on the hand to protect the part of the hand near the wrist. The tape may cross the back of the hand twice, but may not extend within three-fourths of an inch of the knuckles when the hand is clenched to make a fist. 2. Each unarmed combatant shall use soft surgical bandage not over 2 inches wide, held in place by not more than 10 feet of surgeon’s adhesive tape for each hand. Up to one 20-yard roll of bandage may be used to complete the wrappings for each hand. Strips of tape may be used between the fingers to hold down the bandages. I don't see in the rules where and how it's This content is protected . AND if it was indeed This content is protected , This content is protected , This content is protected , and This content is protected as you and some others are claiming, then why would Abel Sanchez be a POS and send his fighter into the ring knowing all this? You know what I think, Abel is being a Big drama queen because he wants to create a big drama show and a bunch of Canelo haters and GGGoons are following suit. If its all those things you say it is no trainer with conscience would send their fighter into a fight like that.
Great, you have read the rules. So, lets play. This content is protected Thats the rules you posted in action, ok? Two layers, 1 bandage + 1 tape. Notice the use of the tape. Holds bandage in place, between fingers, tape holds the strips. Absolutely normal wrap, no stacking. Pay attention to the the knuckles. This content is protected Again. Layer of bandage + layer of tape. Strips between fingers, tape to secure the whole thing. No stacking. Pay attention to the knuckles. This content is protected Canelo. Not a full video unfortunately. Clearly has tape on already, visible all the way up to 1:13-1:14, gets another layer of bandage. (According to Sanchez happens multiple times, I’m guessing this is towards the end of the process) We do not know what is under this layer of bandage but pay attention to the knuckles, what the hell is going on there? Does his wrap resemble those made by Roach or Chavez? Nope. Is he clearly trying to make his wrap “harder”...? Bonus number one - “I always wrap Canelo’s hands the same way” Stacking. Tape on the knuckles. Tape on bare skin. This content is protected This content is protected Bonus number two - “Back when IsaL knew better” Oh, and @LANCE99, i did get bored enough to do a little research lol. According to his own team, his hands are always wrapped the same way and his wraps were complained about by Latas team too. As someone on scene put it - Plastic wraps, Paid of judge(s), PED’s make him Tripple P.
I can't see the videos from work, but I'll play along. Nothing that Canelo did was illegal according to the rules. It's not very complicated. The rules are short, simple and clear. The NSAC stated that under their rules there was no foul play. In contrast with Tito, the way he wrapped his hands was illegal when he fought Hopkins and was forced to re-wrap. Note that Tito was the cash cow and star, he was also the favorite, and the home town fighter, yet because they were infact illegal, he was ordered to re-wrap them.
You're trolling is getting old and repetitive. Stacking a hand wrap with additional gauze over the tape is not illegal ! ! There are no rules against it, Sanchez complained about it because he had no flipping clue what the rules were and arrogantly tried to tell the NSAC inspector what shouldn't be allowed and nearly got kicked out of the locker room for being such an ignorant crybaby. All stacking of hand wraps does is create a tighter more snug fit inside the glove which I tried to explain to you, so you don't have to punch walls before the fight because the glove isn't fitting properly. You then pulled the "You're wrong, I'm an expert" card lol. Stacking doesn't make the hand wrap harder or more dangerous to the opponent. Gauze is a soft material, the additional gauze just creates more of a snug fit for the hands inside the glove. What's dangerous and a health issue is not having the proper padding in one's glove like Golovkin was accused of. The wrapping of hands are inspected before every fight by commission inspectors. They know what's allowed and what isn't. Trying to defend Abel Sanchez to the gills here has you backed you into a corner trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. He was clearly out of line when he complained about Canelo's hand wraps. I know how badly you want to believe that Canelo's hand wraps were illegal. I know how much of an expert you think you are and how you think you're better and more knowledgable on the subject than everyone else. But the fact is : You Are Wrong ! Period . Canelo's wraps were legal. There's no getting around that. You can type "But it's illegal" all you want but it won't change the fact that they are legal.
I'm not an expert. I just have experience in this. You don't. The people in this topic that have dealt with this are myself and Dirsspaardis. Not you and Isal. All you know is that you like Canelo, dislike his opponents and those that speak negatively about him, and you're letting that be your entire reasoning behind this. This is the most absurd thing I have ever encountered. You even try to type long paragraphs about things that you know nothing about where EVERYTHING you said is wrong. I'm not even defending Sanchez. You're just too much of a fanboy to understand that.
I thought you’d shield yourself with that same “but the rules...”. I read them IsaL, i know what they say and dont say. Unless someones got the full video of his hands being wrapped, we wont know if his knuckles were covered with tape (always wrapped the same...right?) and if tape was applied on top of bandage or underneath but what we do know IsaL is this - he stacked his wraps in order to make them cast-like and his punches would be much harder. You know that, i know that, shadow by now should know that (contrary to his “Canelo was adding extra protection to his hands” crap). You want to pretend it’s all ok? Fine by me, i’ve made my point and exposed your “double standards” (by the way, this is what it actually means, two identical situations treated differently) in process. Your, or anyone elses, attempts to deny whats obvious mean little to me. 1. It's illegal for a reason. 2. Felix Trinidad Sr. is quoted admitting that it helps with power. 3. Bernard Hopkins (After he beat Trinidad) is quoted as saying that what they did was create a castlike wrap.
You state here that the two situations were identical. Lets examine why Trinidad had to re-wrap shall we? Here is a quote from NY State Athletic Commission Chair Melvina Lathan that explains what happened regarding Trinidad and why he was forced to re-wrap his hands : "First I would like to say that my deputy commissioner and my commissioner did a diligent job that night. The rules are clear and fair. Mr.Trinidad did not violate the rules, that's why there was no suspension. Extra tape and gauze can be applied if the trainers agree and the commission approves, grounds for that will be protection only cause of injury. Under no circumstances can there be double layers of tape, which in this case there was none. The New York State bylaws say you cannot have tape on skin so the commission made them rewrap because of that fact alone." So, as was made clear, the reason why the commission made him re-wrap was because there was tape on skin. So that destroys your argument that the two situations were identical. One of the issues that IsaL pointed out 5 years ago was that when Team Hopkins sent a representative to over-see Tito's hands being wrapped, he was shocked to see that Tito's left hand had already been wrapped, signed off and his glove was already on. He also pointed out that Richardson stated that Don Felix was putting layers of tape and then gauze, tape and then gauze, tape and then gauze which is not in accordance with NYSAC rules. "The rules stipulate tape cannot be applied directly over the knuckles, and that repeating the process several times (is not permitted)." Melvina Lathan in her statement denied this claim that there were several layers of tape on Tito's wraps, but even if there were, that would not be identical to Canelo's situation because Canelo didn't have several layers of tape around the knuckles.
If you read them, and you know what they say, then you should also know that no where in the rules does it say that the way Canelo had his hand wrapped is illegal. There is no double standard. What happened with Tito was in NY not NV. But I will watch the videos on my spare time and see if they have any relevance to this argument, and if in fact it is illegal the way Canelo wrapped his hands I will acknowledge it.
No, first, lets examine what it is exactly that Trinidad did - he stacked his wraps or, in other words, hardened them in order to deal more damage. What did Canelo do? The same. Have you followed my advice and went to the gym yet? What where your findings?
So it's so common that the only people who use this methods are embroiled in loaded glove controversy. LOL Canelo Trinidad Special shout out Mr Margarito. Who just put plaster of pari. This is a common wrap who else wraps like this? Only people that seem to be wrapping like this have had complaints against them LOL. It was approved so you can't blame the fighters team but the one in charge of overlooking and policing the wrapping who slept on the job or turned a blind eye. I hope GGG wraps his hands like this and no one complain, OK!! Based on the video evidence there is indeed a difference between how trainer Roach, Sanches wraps compared to Canelo's teams wrap. It is in plain view LOL.
I mentioned double standards not because of the rules IsaL, but because of how you, personaly, had no problems with understanding what Tito did that for, what was the effect and possible outcomes of it. With Canelo you overlook all of that and jump straight to “but the rules”. Thats double standards.
So is it illegal or not? Because I can't find anywhere that suggests the way Canelo wrapped his hands is illegal.
