    Good post.

I’d have liked to have seen fights against Toney and McCallum.

No way. Canelo would lose to Greb and Hagler. Not to Trinidad.

He lost twice to Golovkin, who is mush slower than the ATGs you mentioned. Again, except Tito.

Greb would overwhelm him with speed and volume while keeping him at distance. Hagler would outbrawl him and possibly stop him based on stamina and accumulation of punches.

Some people are talking about BHop. I think Hopkins would outbox him and win at least 8 rounds.

And Canelo got schooled by a 36 year old Super Featherweight.

Who really should have lost his last fight and had a 3 week training camp.

what of his style? he had a 'windmill' style and outworked his opponents, no? what is so impenetrable about that? if it were such a great style, it would stand the test of time and more guys would fight like that today. sounds exactly like the kind of style that a solid jab and some halfway decent footwork would overcome .

yes, I know he fought Tunney, several times (lost to him as well)...Tunney by all accounts was an average size HW of his day, around 190 lbs. it's not exactly the same, but Canelo fighting at 175 and knocking out the great Kovalev is at least somewhat comparable.

and what of Grebs record? he fought Tommy Laughren (another guy i cant find any film of) like 20 times, and he got beat by Tiger Flowers. he's also got a lot of fights against the Gunboat Bobs and the Sailor Jerrys of the world.

look, all respect to greb, he sounds like a legend of his era, but the fight game has evolved, at the very least the demographics have changed, and along with it styles have changed. otherwise we would still have guys like Gunboat Bob ranked highly today.

without any film to really go off, I refuse to keep assuming that so many old timers would mop the floor with modern athletes, I actually think it would be the other way around.

boxing media is also extremely dishonest and agenda driven, much like the main stream media, so I need to see for myself rather than take their word for it

This thread occurs after every win with any particular fighters fan base. Fighter X just won this fight last night so they are hyped up, come on here and explain how Fighter X would beat everyone in their prime from Ricardo Lopez to Godzilla. It’s nonsense and it will pass.

If we’re talking about an even playing field, wouldn’t the old time fighters also have access to the modern training methods and benefits of progress?

I agree with Just about everything in this post.
Minor quibble: I think Canelo outboxes Jake.

The Middleweight division was also deeper than it is now. Like, a lot deeper. Hagler was the man who cleaned Middleweight out and ruled over it with an iron fist.

For a guy who had a reputation of marching forward and eating three shots to land one of his own, Jake was actually a lot slicker and defensively sound than people give him credit for.

Wrong the fighters isn Hagler`s era were killers, there will never be a freak at 147/154 like Hearns again and Leonard was one of the fastest fighters in history.

Charlo wouldn`t even have been a top 10 contender in Hagler`s day, Mugabi was better than Charlo is and he was better than Danny Jacobs is, the middleweight division is weaker now than in Hagler`s day, boxers were faster back then.
