I think Canelo is going to beat Kovalev pretty decisively and possibly by stoppage. Im really surprised by the amount of people picking Kov to not only beat Canelo but to win by KO. Am I missing something? Anyone agree with me?

There`s a huge difference in reach and power, Canelo has never been hit by a powerful light heavy.

Yeah, you're missing a lot and buying into a kneejerk prevailing notion, or a narrative.

Look how flat footed Canelo is, how one dimensional and bad he is at walking down an opponent, how bad his gas tank is, how susceptible to a decent jab he is here.

Look has fast, fluid, fleet footed, rangy and elusive Kovalev still is. Then add in the power as a deterrant.

Canelo is going to have to walk through hellfire and brimstone to get a win here.

I have the same pick. All those roaches picking Kovalev are a bunch of bitter Golovkin fans. If Kovalev loses they will be the first to shamelessly deny picking him to win.

I agree with you. Kovalev is not looking to exit the game broke. Canelo is a retirement plan. Don’t think Canelo could stop him though, not even juicing the clenbuterol “tainted meat”. UD. Two Judges 115-113 for Canelo, the other judge 118-110 courtesy of ODLH.

I'm taking Kov! He's bigger, has a terrific jab and Canelo is an unknown quantity at LHW. If Canelo handled Golovkin's jab better, I would give him a better chance, but in 2 fights, Canelo got peppered by G's jab. That isn't a good sign when moving up 2 divisions and taking on a tall powerful guy with an educated jab. Kov wins comfortably.

Sorry bud but you're sadly mistaken. I picked Canelo to beat Golovkin but taking on Kovalev is a whole different animal.

I'd comfortably pick Kovalev to KO Golovkin early due to his lack of head movement and Kovalevs superior firepower. Canelo will more than likely make it to the second half of the fight due to his superior defense and upper body movement but his lack of pop will be his undoing.
I can see his corner throwing In the towel for a mercy stoppage around 9-11 if he isn't koed by then.

I'd say at least 90% of the fighters, trainers etc. I've seen interviewed regarding the outcome of this fight have picked Clenelo. Rewind back to when Kov was in his prime and even Mama Ana Maria Clenelo wouldn't have given her boy a hope in hell. No one would've and rightly so because he would've got sparked out.

I have to disagree. I can't see Kovalev handling Alvarez' body shots. He will either be stopped by them or slowed down enough for Alvarez to score enough rounds and get the decision.

There is a reason Canelo is the favorite.

kovalev is a bully, but hes soft. ive yet to see him take any responsibility for any crap that went wrong in his life. he also blinked hard vs ward come gut check time. i think if canelo stands up to one of his good shots and keeps on coming, and if canelo tests his body hard, kovalev will start to wilt. it remains to be seen if canelo can handle a solid punch from a 175 lb fighter, but his chin seems solid as rock today. how much power he carries up to lhw will also come into play as to how quickly he can start to getting kovalev in a losers frame of mind.

Kovalev is past prime, but not nearly as faded as people make out. He’s coming off 2 of the top 3 wins of his career, based off rankings. He showed how much he had left against a young, hungry guy in Yarde, and adjusted his gameplan to perfection in the Álvarez rematch, looking pretty much as good as ever. I have a feeling these wins will age very well.
