Actually GGG defense is excellent. He's never off balance and always takes the proper angle.

When GGG fights guys that can punch (Stevens, Lemieux) he shows good defense, rarely takes big shots.

How can somebody watch the Lemieux fight and say he has poor defense. It was an almost perfect boxing clinic.

Both have their strengths? Just about everything that matters in boxing GGG is better at than Canelo.

Stevens was teeing off and rocked GGG to the core? Even Lemieux landed good shots on him tbf GGG has a great chin.

Rocked him to his core. He landed a few punches that stopped GGG from walking forward for 2 seconds. Come on.

Then GGG made him quit on his stool.

Stevens was all talk and all phony. Like most of these "I'm from the streets guys".

How can you say you will put the guy in the grave and post it on Instagram and then quit on your stool?

Agreed with OP, Canelo has superior Counter Punching skills, and he is also superior in the defense department. To make this simple, GGG has only two skills that are superior to Canelo's which are Cutting off the ring and power, and power is debatable based on quality of opposition for GGG.

GGG won't have to use his Ring Cutting skills against Canelo who does not fight off the backfoot.

Canelo will show GGG things GGG has never seen before thats for sure.

Canelo: Speed, Feints, Defense, Counter punching, Quality Expererience, Explosiveness

GGG: Ring cutting, power*, height, agressiveness

Canelo has slightly faster hand speed. But everything else he's at a disadvantage.

    Foot speed is slower.
Defense? Canelo is overrated while Golovkin is criminally underrated.
Counter punching and combinations, while good, are outclassed by Golovkin.
Size is marginal. There are much larger size differences between the current top welterweights.

Golovkin has much better footwork, better timing, better balance, better parring, probably better chin.
